■アーチャー【サーヴァント】

主人公と契約するメインサーヴァントのひとり。

赤い外套に身を包んだ、二十代中盤の青年。

弓兵のクラスでありながら白兵戦を主体にする錬鉄の英霊。緑衣のアーチャーとの混同を避けるため、紅茶、赤アーチャー、と呼ばれる事も。

一人称は『私』。ある条件でのみ『オレ』と洩らしてしまう事も。

 

もう何回解説したか分からなくなる程度にはお馴染みのサーヴァント。

皮肉屋で冷徹、そのくせ面倒見のいい執事系サーヴァントとも言う。他の英霊たちとは出典が異なるため、正統な英霊とは言えない。

この英霊は守護者と呼ばれるもので、人類の"存続するべき"無意識が生み出した防衛装置のようなもの。

要は名も無い人々が選出した、顔の無い代表者だ。

『人類の滅亡を加速させる害悪が現れた場合、これを成立させる要素をすべて消去する』といった目的で守護者は現れ、仕事をこなす。

人知れず人類滅亡の危機を潰している、時代の補修人といったところ。この抑止力が働かなくなったとき滅びは速やかに進行し、人々はもう取り返しの付かない”終わり”と体面する。

この英霊がなぜ守護者の一部になったのかは、EXTRA本編を参照のこと。

 

基本的に冷徹な仕事人なので、私情を挟めない法の執行官、とイメージするとしっくりくる。いつも厳《いか》めしい顔をしているのはそのあたりの不自由さ故なのだろう。

弓の騎士として確立しているが、もともとは旧世界の魔術師。

投影魔術……道具をイメージで数分だけ複製する魔術……を用い、多くの名剣、魔剣を模造する贋作者《フェイカー》。

基本武装が弓になったのは、彼が英霊としてはそこまで強力ではなく、最終的な戦闘スタイルが狙撃に落ち着いたからと思われる。

staynightのアーチャーとほぼ同一存在(同一人物ではない)だが、英霊としての真名は異なる。

なぜ彼の真名が人名ではなく名詞なのかはEXTRA本編のスペシャルマイルームで語られる。

キャス狐と違って見るのはたいへん簡単。各回戦ごとにこまめにマイルームでトークしていればフラグ達成ですよ白野さん。

 

 

CCCでは赤ジャケ半裸のヘンタ───赤いレザージャケットをスタイリッシュに着込んだ、頼れる無頼フォームで登場。

月の裏側であろうとクール&ワイルドに状況を把握、記憶を失った主人公を助けていく。その在り方は口うるさい教官のようだ。

CCCにおけるライバルはメルトリリス。

女主人公+アーチャーの組み合わせでのみ、メルトリリス関連のイベントはがらりと内容を変える。

またサーヴァントENDもアーチャーだけはその在り方が異なっている。

セイバーたちは『現在から始まる未来』であり、

アーチャーは『未来から始まる現在《イマ》』。

なぜそうであるのかはアーチャーと戦い抜いた”貴方”なら、言葉にせずとも理解できている筈だ。

 

Archer [servant] P152

Archer is one of the main Servants that the protagonist contract.

Enveloped in his red cloak, he is a young man in his mid-20s.

Despite belonging to the archer class, he is a tough-as-steel Heroic Spirit and usually engages in close quarters combat. He is sometimes referred to as Koucha, or even Red Archer in order to avoid being confused with the Archer who wears green clothing.

Archer usually uses the personal pronoun (watashi), but depending on the situation he lets オレ (ore) slip out from time to time.

 

Having been introduced in Type-Moon works countless times, he is a very familiar Servant.
He is a cool-headed cynic, but he is also helpful and caring. Due to his character he is said to be a Servant who is also suitable to serve as a butler. Archer’s origin differs from that of other Heroic Spirits, and he cannot be considered a legitimate Heroic Spirit.

Archer is a guardian. He was born into the world as a kind of defense mechanism which arose from the collective unconscious desire of mankind for continued existence.

He was essentially unconsciously elected by the masses to be their faceless representative.

He carries out his mission as a guardian following a simple rule, “If some evil appears that threatens to speed up the collapse of mankind, I will eliminate it and all accessories.”

He crushes threats to mankind that the masses don’t even know or realize exist. He is, so to speak, a repairman of the ages. If there were ever a time without Archer’s deterrent power at work, destruction would rapidly spread and mankind would soon find itself facing an inevitable “END.

Archer is a calm, collected professional, and he never lets his personal feelings interfere. He is always making a stern face, however this is probably due to his lack of freedom.

Although he takes up his role as a knightly bow wielder, he was originally an old world Magus.

He uses Projection Magic, which is the ability to replicate an object just by imagining it for a few minutes. He is a faker that can reproduce many famous swords.

The reason his main weapon is a bow is thought to be because he isn’t that strong of a Heroic Spirit, so he settled on ranged combat as his ultimate combat style.

In EXTRA Archer is almost the same entity as the Archer in Fate/stay night (although not the same person), but their true names are different. Please refer to Archer’s Special My Room in EXTRA to find out why his true name is just a regular noun, and not a normal human name.

Unlike Cas-Ko, Archer’s Special My Room is very simple to access. You can activate all his flags by talking to him in between rounds, Ms. Shirano. [TL NOTE: This Ms. Shirano seems to be an inside joke. Maybe someone called Shirano sent them a fan letter asking how.]

 

 

In CCC Archer appears as a half-naked perv— I mean… he is stylishly donning a red leather jacket. In CCC he is somewhat of a scoundrel, but nonetheless still reliable. Even when he is on the far side of the Moon he coolly and wildly grasps the situation and helps out the amnesic protagonist. Sometimes he can be quite the nagging instructor.

In CCC his rival is Melt Lilith.

If you choose both the female protagonist and the Servant Archer, the contents of Melt Lilith related events change completely. Also Archer is the only Servant whose END differs from the rest. The Servants based on Saber feature “The Future that begins in the Present,” while Archer features “The Present that begins in the Future.” Why the ending theme differs can surely be understood by those of you who have fought to the end alongside Archer. I’m sure you understand without me putting it into words.

 

■アーチャー(緑)【サーヴァント】

二回戦で戦う事になるサーヴァント。

マスターはダン・ブラックモア。

緑衣に身を隠した狙撃手。赤い外套のアーチャーとの混同を避けるため、緑茶《りょくちゃ》、と呼ばれる事も。

真名は森の狩人・ロビンフッド。

ただしロビンフッドといっても伝説にある本物ではなく、ロビンフッドのモデルになった義賊の一人。

もともとは村の厄介者……村はずれに住む天涯孤独の青年だったが、ひょんな事から村の徴税にやってきた領主の軍隊とかかわってしまった。

領主が代替わりした事により税は増加し、村に税を納めろという事は飢え死にしろ、という事に等しかった。

村人たちには領主に逆らう力も意思もない。

ロビンは村の人間ではなく、あくまで”森を犯す人間に罰を与える”という名目で領主の軍隊を撃退してしまう。その後、正体を隠して戦うことで村人たちからは『緑の人』として扱われる事になった。

罠や奇襲、だまし討ちが基本戦術のサーヴァントで、正面からの戦いは好まない。

獲物を森に誘い込んだ時こそ、このサーヴァントの本領となる。

「善良な森はオレの庭とは呼べない。

準備は万全、仕掛けは万能ってね。

より強大な獲物を射殺《いころ》す弱者の庭。

それがオレにとっての、シャーウッドの森ってワケ」

その切り札は森の植物から採れる毒。

実は毒使いとしてキャス狐と通じ合うところもあったりする。

 

ロビンフッドは『ロビン・フッド物語』に登場する、シャーウッドの森に潜む義賊で、時の暴君ジョン失地王に抵抗した正義の人として描かれている。

ギリシャ神話のオリオンとケルト神話の妖精たち、そしてドルイド信仰とが融合して誕生した義賊。

モデルとなる人物は存在するが、それが複数混合した結果と思われる。16世紀以降は、リチャード獅子心王時代の人物と考えられている。

正体は不明だが、確かにいた『誰か』。

自分のためではなく人々のために戦った英雄。

そして死後、人々から忘れ去られる運命の人。

(そういった視点で見ると、赤と緑、二人のアーチャーは似通ったパーソナリティを持っている)

 

初心《うぶ》な村娘を一目で落とすほどのハンサム。

……なのだが、善良でやや小心者な性格のため、完壁なイケメンという訳ではない。

正義にこだわる青臭い自分を隠すため、不真面目な素振りをしている。死より生を尊重する信条。

 

「誇りも怠惰もいいけどさ、死んだら何にもならないでしょ?」

 

といった、生き抜いた末に温かいものが残ればいい、という小市民的な願望の象徴。……もっとも、彼自身はそれを手に入れる事はなかったのだが。

基本、世をすねた視点、物言いをする。なんであれ「そんなもんですか」と流す事なかれ主義。

嫌われ者だった彼の処世術は『他人の深いところには立ち入らない』というものだった。

そのクセ人間好きなので、楽しそうな団らんがあればそのはじっこにひょっこり仲間入りし、最終的には友人ではないが他人でもない、というポジションに収まっている。

属性が善なので、悪人は憎むが善人(凡人)を憎む事はない。世を拗ねているが、決して他人の努力、徒労を嘲笑う事だけはしない。

彼の根底には自身の卑しさを恥じ入る後ろめたさと、コンプレックスがあるからだ。

 

アーチャーのサーヴァントとして召喚されたものの、マスターとの相性は悪い。

生前から奇襲、暗殺、破壊工作といった”卑劣な戦法”でのみ生き延びてきたアーチャーにとって、ダンの騎士道精神は足かせのようなものだからだ。

それが聖杯戦争、引いては彼の深層にくすぶっている"願い"にどう影響するかは、ゲーム本編を参照のこと。

また、相性は悪いものの、ダンとの関係はそれなりに良好。

騎士道精神とは相容れないものの、ダンは正義の人だ。なので、ロビンも嫌々ながらも指示に従っている。

嫌々なのは毛嫌いしているのではなく、人間的に正反対の人物だから。

ダンには誤魔化しがきかないので「また面倒な人にあたっちまったよ」と頭を掻く緑茶であった。

 

「状況にケチをつけたところで敵さんが転んでくれるワケでもなし。いいですよ、逆境にはなれてるし。大人しく、グチ一つなく付き合いますよ」

「私見ではあるが。一般的に、それを愚痴というのではないか、アーチャー?」

「へ?あ、そうっスね。こりゃ一本とられたわ」

 

ベテラン老兵と若くして達観した青年兵。

それがこのコンビの共闘スタイルである。

 

Archer (Green) [servant] P153-154

Green Archer is a Servant who the protagonist fights in the second round.

His Master is Dan Blackmore.

He is a sniper whose body is hidden in a green cloak. In order to avoid confusion with the red-cloaked Archer, he is sometimes called Ryokucha.

His true name is Robin Hood, Hunter of the Forest.

It’s important to note that he is not the Robin Hood you know from popular legend. Instead Green Archer is a chivalrous robber based on the original Robin Hood.

The original Robin Hood was a troublemaking orphan who lived alone on the outskirts of a village. In a twist of fate he became involved in an ordeal with some of the Lord’s soldiers who came around town for tax collection.

The Lord had recently succeeded as head of the family, and he was taking the opportunity to raise taxes to the point where he was essentially telling the villagers to starve to death.

The villagers lacked both the desire and the power to go against the Lord.

So Robin didn’t try to rally the villagers, and instead cast himself as a protector of the forest who would punish any who violated it. He drove off the soldiers using this as his excuse. From then on he kept his identity hidden and continued to fight the Lord. Eventually he became known amongst the villagers as The Green Man.

Traps, surprise attacks, and foul play formed the core of Robin Hood’s tactics, so as a Servant he generally avoids head on confrontation.

He tries to lure his prey into the forest, which is his true territory.

“You could never call my territory a “nice forest.” Complete preparation. An overwhelming network of tricks and traps. A place for the weak to shoot and bring down stronger foe. That’s my Sherwood Forest.”

His trump card is poison obtained from plants in the forest. Actually both Green Archer and Cas-ko are poison users.

 

Robin Hood appears in “The Tale of Robin Hood” and is a chivalrous robber that lurks in Sherwood forest. Depicted as a hero of justice that fights against the Tyrant King John Lackland, he is a character born from a fusion of Greek myths about Orion, Celtic myths about fairies, and Druid beliefs.

There was a real person after whom he was modeled; however the model is also thought to be the result of a mix of multiple people. From the 16th century onwards he was thought to be someone who lived in the time of King Lionheart.

His true identity is veiled, however there was certainly someone who he originated from. That someone was a hero who fought not for themselves, but for the benefit of other people. But then, after death, they were destined to be forgotten. (If you look at it from this perspective, both Red and Green Archers share similar personalities.) [TL NOTE: Here personality was expressly written in katakana, but it feels like it should probably be “share a similar fate.”]

 

Robin Hood was handsome enough to make any naive village girl fall for him with a single look. That being said, he was very kind and a rather timid man, so not exactly the perfect lady-killer.

He would often act frivolously to hide his naive fixation on justice. But his creed always puts life over death.

 

“Pride or idleness are great and all, but it’s all over if you die, right?”

 

It follows that he held the small-minded desire of just wanting something warm and pleasant to be waiting for him after surviving to the end of the conflict. However it stands that he never managed to achieve this.

To be blunt, he had a childish, ill-tempered perspective of the world. Passing over whatever with a simple “Well I guess that’s the way it is.”

After being hated by the villagers [for the trouble he caused when he was young] he learned to simply go with the flow, and often told himself, “Don’t meddle too deeply in the affairs of others.” Nevertheless he had a love for people and whenever he saw people having fun he would somehow manage to slip himself into the group. He would end up as someone who was less than a friend, but more than a stranger.

His main attribute is virtue, so he loathes evil people, but finds no fault with good people (ordinary people). Although he twists the world around him, he would never sneer at the effort of others, however fruitless it may be.

At the root of his character is his strong sense of shame about his lowly origin.

 

Robin Hood is summoned as the Servant Archer, and his has poor compatibility with his Master (Dan). Throughout his lifetime he managed to stay alive by employing surprise attacks, assassination, and destructive traps. He was a so-called “Master of Cowardice.” Therefore Dan’s knightly mentality is something of a hindrance to Robin.

When it comes to the Holy Grail War, what effect does this incompatibility have on Robin’s smoldering wish (his desire of the Grail)? To find out, please refer to the game contents.

It must be mentioned that despite being ideologically incompatible with Dan, their personal relationship is rather good. Although Robin can’t follow along with Dan’s knightly mentality, Dan is a man of justice, just like Robin is. As such, Robin reluctantly obeys his orders. His reluctance is not due to prejudice, but rather because they are polar opposites.

Dan is impervious to trickery and deception, so Ryokucha (Green Archer) can’t help but scratch his head, “I wound up with another pain in the ass again.

 

Green Archer: “Nitpicking at every little thing isn’t going to defeat our enemies. Oh well I guess it’s fine. I’m used to adversity after all. I’ll follow along obediently without a single complaint.”

Dan: “Archer, just my opinion, but isn’t what you just said generally considered to be a complaint?” Green Archer: “Eh? Ah, yep that’s right. You’ve got me there.”

 

The old veteran warrior and the young philosophical greenback.

This is the face of the struggle they share.

 

■招き蕩う黄金劇場【宝具】

アエストゥス・ドムス・アウレア。

赤セイバーの困った芸術性爆発な宝具。正しくはアエストゥスウストゥス・ドムス・アウレア。

アエストゥスウストゥスはラテン語で「情熱」「灼熱」を意味し、ドムス・アウレアは実際に建造された、ある劇場の名前である。

赤セイバーが「余の歌を聴くがよい!」とばかりに、自分の歌をきかせるため人々を劇場に閉じこめたエピソードが宝具化したもの。

すべてが赤セイバーにとって有利に働く黄金劇場を作り上げ、戦場とする。薔薇とかもバンバン散る。

固有結界と似て非なるもの。一時的に世界の上に別世界を上書きする固有結界と違い、世界の上に一から建築するのでたいへん長持ちする。

余談ではあるが、黄金劇場に降り立った時、赤セイバーの剣はヴェスビィオスの火山の如く炎を帯び、大火を巻き起こす設定だった。

しかし映像的に実現は難しいので没。携帯ゲーム機の悲しい限界なのであった。

亜種として工芸品を作りあげるための「白銀工房」、料理勝負をするための「灼熱厨房」などがあるとかないとか。なんでもアリですね皇帝さま。

 

Golden Theater of the Flamboyant [Noble Phantasm] P154

Aestus Domus Aurea.

Red Saber’s Noble Phantasm; a bothersome explosion of her artistic talent.

To be correct Aestus Ustus Domus Aurea.

Aestus Ustus is Latin for “passion and “heat,” while Domus Aurea is the name of a theater that was actually constructed [by Emperor Nero in ancient Rome].

Red Saber’s Noble Phantasm is an attack based on an episode where she declared “Listen to my song! and locked everyone in the theater to force them to listen to her singing.

This Noble Phantasm creates a golden theater in which everything is advantageous to Nero, and makes it into the battlefield. There rose petals fluttering through the air.

Similar, yet different from your average Reality Marble. Reality Marbles only temporarily cover an area of the current world with an alternate world, but The Golden Theater of the Flamboyant can easily persist in the current world for long periods of time because it is built there from scratch.

To digress, upon the materialization of The Golden Theater, Red Saber’s sword was initially designed to be enshrouded in a raging inferno of flames like those of Mount Vesuvius. However, it was too difficult to graphically realize in the game, so it was cut. This is an unfortunate drawback to the use of a portable game system.

By the way, Ms. Empress, you were wondering about the existence of the “White Silver Workshop” (Hakugin Koubou) to create fine art, and the “Red Hot Kitchen” (Shakunetsu Chuubou) to be used for the cook-off battle. Well yes, they do. [TL NOTE: The part at the end about Hakugin Koubou and Shakunetsu Chuubou is some completely nonsensical inside joke.]

 

■アサシン【サーヴァント】

姿なき暗殺者。マスターはユリウス。

その真名は李書文《りしょぶん》。

1864~1934年に生きた人物で、

「李書文に二の打ち要らず、一つあれば事足りる」

と恐れられた、中国拳法史史上、有数の拳法家。

試合の末、たやすく命を奪うことから「凶拳李」とも呼ばれたという。

ゲーム本編では他のアサシンたちとは一線を画す”気配遮断”を発揮、見えない暗殺者として主人公の前に立ちふさがった。

対手を殺す事に何の抵抗もない冷酷な人だが、殺人鬼や殺人快楽症ではない。「武を交えるのならどちらかは死ぬ。戦いとは気安いものではなく、互いの信念をかけたもの。故に、おいそれと始めるものではなく、また、始めたからには必ず、一戦にて一人は殺すべし」

 

それがEXTRAにおけるアサシンの信条である。

彼は極めて合理的かつ公正に、戦いとはそういうものと捉えているのだろう。

マスターであるユリウスも人命を奪う事を生業とする男なので、マスターとの相性はいい。

もっともユリウスは殺し屋でありアサシンは武人なため、根本的なところで話が噛み合わない。

ユリウスは職業として殺しを呑みこみ、

アサシンは武人として殺し合いの日々を良しとしている。

殺人鬼ではないが、いざ戦うのならこれを楽しむ。

そうでなければとても武など極められまい、と豪快に笑うアサシンに、ユリウスは「……そういうものか」と生真面目に返すのだった。

 

 

李書文はアサシンのクラスではあるが、その戦闘力がもっとも高まるのは槍を扱う時だ。

李氏八極門の祖である李書文は、神槍李とあだ名されるほどに槍に長けた人物だった。

彼の使った六合大槍は、八極門の基本的な武器であり、極論して良いならば八極門の素手の技法(八極拳)のほとんどはこの六合大槍の技法を学ぶための前段階に過ぎないとさえいえる。

単純に(純粋に、ではない)自身の強さのみを求めた李書文だが、晩年は暴力の強さではなく、自身の生き方、信念の強さに武を見いだした。

自身を拳法家というより殺し屋のたぐいと自認しているが、それを卑下する事も、誇る事もない。

生前は善《よ》く学び、善く戦い、善く殺めたので、無念や怨念はまったく持っていない。

サーヴァントとして召還されてからは主であるユリウスの暗器として、ためらいなく凶拳を振るった。

今回はユリウスに合わせてアサシンになったが、彼の本領はランサーにある。その時は晩年の、老熟した達人の姿で現れる事だろう。

 

Assassin [servant] P154-155

He is an assassin that melts into the shadows. Julius is his Master.

His true name is Li Shuwen.

Li was a prominent Chinese martial artist who lived from 1864 to 1934, and was feared for prowess in battle,Li Shuwen needs no second strike, as long as he lands one blow it will more than suffice.”

He became known as the Demon Fist Master for casually ending the lives of those he defeated in martial art matches. In EXTRA, he stands out from the other Assassin class Heroic Spirits because of his unique skill “Presence Concealment” which he uses to impede the protagonist as an invisible assassin.

While cold-hearted and able to kill without reserve, he is not someone who takes pleasure in killing.

 

When I encounter another warrior, one of us will die. A fight is not something that can be taken lightly; it is something upon which both parties have staked their beliefs. Therefore it is not something that should be approached in a casual way. Also, after a fight has begun, it must always result in the death of one combatant.”

 

This is the principle which governs Assassin in Fate/Extra.

He is extremely logical and fair, and it would seem that this is what he believes a fight to be.

His Master, Julius, also makes his living by stealing the lives of others. Their compatibility is good.

Julius was originally a contract killer, and Assassin was originally a professional martial artist, so their opinions clash on a fundamental level. Julius just thinks of killing as all in a day’s work, while Assassin greatly enjoyed the prime of his life when he could often fight to the death.

Assassin is not a maniacal killer, but if things come to a fight, he figures he might as well have fun.

Assassin would heartily laugh and say that without such an attitude it would be impossible to truly hone oneself as a warrior. Julius replied seriously “...really?”

 

 

Li Shuwen belongs to the Assassin class, however only when using a lance can his true ability be drawn out to the fullest.

He is the founder of a branch of Bājíquán named Eight Extremities Gate, and he excelled in the use of spears to the point of being nicknamed Divine Spear Li. The Six Harmony Great Spear that he used is the basic weapon of Eight Extremities Gate, and to speak strongly, it can be said that the unarmed techniques of the Eight Extremities Gate are nothing but the preliminary step to learning the techniques of this great spear.

Simply (but not purely) Li desired nothing more than to increase his own strength. In his later years he came to see the power of his values and way of life as his strength, rather than violence.

He acknowledges that he is a closer to being a professional killer than a martial artist, but this is neither a self-depreciation nor a boast.

Given that he often learned, often fought and often murdered in his previous life, he really does not carry any regrets or grudges.

Since he was summoned as a Servant, he swings his wicked fists as the concealed weapons of his Master Julius without hesitation. For the time being he has taken up the role of Assassin for the sake of compatibility with Julius, though originally his Servant class was supposed to be Lancer. As Lancer he would have probably appeared as a grizzled master, the figure of his later years.

 

■アトラス院【地名】

エジプトはアトラス山脈にある魔術師・錬金術師の協会。巨人の穴倉ともいう。

かつて機能していた魔術協会───その三大部門の一つ、蓄積と計測の院。

中世から主流となった現代錬金術とは異なる、魔術の祖、世界の理を解明する錬金術師の集団だった。

魔術師というよりは自身の肉体をマン・マシーンとして扱う異能者たちで、自身の肉体を『正しく、強く、速く』知性を働かせるための容れ物として扱っていた。

人間とは運動機能(五感)をもった類い希なる計算装置である。情報を収集し、解析し、生まれ出る数々の問題に、労働力としてダイレクトに対応できるよう進化した知的生命体が我々人間である、というのが彼らの信条だった。

その正しさは魔術の絶えたEXTRA世界で奇しくも証明された。

アトラスの錬金術師たちは魔術回路が乏しく、魔力に頼った活動をしてこなかった者たちである。

魔力に頼っていなかった(正しくは『頼れなかった』のだが)彼らは魔力枯渇の後でも魔術の徒として探求を続けられた。

しかし長く次代の子供たちが誕生しなくなり、古参の錬金術師たちの自決死が続いていたアトラス院は魔術枯渇とは関係なく滅びようとしている。

アトラス院にはもはや一人のボムンクルスしか存在しない。最後のアトラスはボムンクルスを鋳造した後に病死し、洞窟には最後の作品だけが残された。

The Atlas Institute [place] P155

The Atlas Institute is an association of Magus and Alchemists based somewhere in Egypt’s Atlas Mountains. It is also known as the Giant’s Pit.

It was formerly one of the three major branches of the Mage’s Association, and it was responsible for measurement and prediction.

It is an institute focused on the study and development of alchemy, but its members broke off from the mainstream modern practice of alchemy that originated in the Middle Ages. Atlas Institute Alchemists are the founders of modern magic practice, and they are more concerned about the greater truths of the universe than mainstream Alchemists.

Unlike most Magus, Atlas Alchemists special abilities were based on a Man+Machine approach. Following their mantra “Faster, Stronger, More Accurate” they treated their bodies as containers to fill and modify in order to develop their abilities.

They possessed great calculation and measurement ability that is rare to manifest naturally in a normal human (and their five senses). It was their belief that humans have evolved to gather information, analyze it and then directly solve any problems perceived.

The correctness of this idea was somewhat proven in the magic-devoid world of Fate/Extra. The Alchemists of Atlas have poor magic circuits, and did not lead their lives relying on magic. As they are Alchemists who did not rely on magic (or to be precise couldn’t rely on magic) even as the decline of magic circuits progressed, they could continue their pursuit and study of magic.

However, after an extended period of time where no children were born to succeed the veteran Atlas Alchemists, their self-determined downfall came about irrespective of the magic circuit decline.

There is not even a single homunculus remaining at Atlas. The last living Atlas Alchemist died of sickness after producing the last homunculus, which lives in a cave somewhere else.

The Atlas Alchemists disappeared, and their research facilities which were built using unknown techniques stretch out in an underground city which is now, more or less, a giant graveyard.

 

■アトラス院は未来に生きてんな【用語】

センチネル化したラニの『ある方針』に向けられた、ジナコからの言葉。

ネットスラングの一つで、日本のゲーマーたちの偏執的萌え技術を見た海外ゲーマーが「日本人はイッちゃってるよ。アイツら未来に生きてるな」とコメントした事が元ネタ。

人類にとってより良い未来を模索し、追及するアトラス院の錬金術に相応しい賛辞と言えよう。

ちなみに、ラニの創造者であるシアリムはラニより一世代前の『はいてるけどはいてないように見せる』主義───即ち、絶対領域の達人だった。

余談ではあるが、CCCではTYPE-MOONのゲームとしては珍しいほどネットスラングが多用されている。これはせっかく電脳世界が舞台のゲームだし、CCCのテーマの一つは違法改造《チート》でもあるし、という事で俗物的なノリを目指したため。

スラングを多用すればモノローグは愉しいものになるが、同時に物語の普遍性は翳ってしまう諸刃《もろは》の剣。扱いには気をつけてネ!

 

The Atlas Institute Doesn’t Live in the Future [term] P155-156

These are the Jinako’s words directed at Rani’s “plan.”

Based off an internet meme that arose from what a biased gamer from a foreign country [said in an interview]. After witnessing moe culture firsthand he said “The Japanese are gone. They are already living in the future.”

Let’s take these words as a compliment for the Alchemists of the Atlas Institute who devoted themselves to the search for a better future for the human race.

By the way, Siarim , who is the content creator that imagined the character Rani, had originally designed Rani to be one of those characters that is actually wearing panties, but often appears not to be. In other words, Siarim is a master of “Zettai Ryouiki.”

 

To digress, in CCC there is a lot of obscure net slang, which is unusual for a TYPE-MOON game. This is because we finally staged a game in a cyber world, and one of the themes of CCC is “CHEATS” so we aimed to attract the attention of some rather worldly-minded people. [TL NOTE: This means that they put (probably vulgar) net slang into the game to appeal to 2ch netizens (worldly-minded people)]

Including a lot of slang makes the dialogue interesting and fun, but at the same time it must be used carefully as it is a double edged sword that reduces the accessibility of a product.

 

■一に還る転生【宝具名】

アミタ・アミターバ。

セイヴァーの大宝具。転輪聖王《チャクラ・ヴァルティン》の最大展開。

インドのブラフマー思想によるなら、すべての人間はブラフマーの転生であり、すべての人類は同一の個人であると言う事になる。

(インドの転生は時間軸を無視する事が往々にしてあるので、細かいツッコミは野暮天)

この思想に立った場合、全人類は必ず成仏する。

何故なら、すべての人間が究極的には覚者《ブッダ》に転生するからだ。

……えー、もう自分でも何を言っているか分からねーが、転生とか不死とかそんなチャチなもんじゃねえ、すげえ(以下略

ようするにあらゆる衆生の苦しみを救う、『人間はみんな私になるのだ転生輪廻』。

生有るもの、人であれば決して逆らえない大ダメージだが、主人公はそもそも生きていない(ネタバレ)ので耐えきれる可能性が微レ在。主人公にはまだ生の苦しみ、四苦がないので。

EXTRAの制作費が十倍ぐらいあったら、ゲーム過程で悟り(信念)を開くと、この攻撃を乗り越えられる、という仕掛けにしたかったところ。

ゲームでは対セイヴァー戦、一定ターン内に決着をつけないと展開される”絶対ゲームオーバー攻撃”として描写されている。

ちなみにダメージは五十六億七千万。

 

Amita Amitabha: Transmigration into One [Noble Phantasm] P156

Amita Amitabha is Saver’s major Noble Phantasm.

It is the final and greatest stage of his minor Noble Phantasm, Chakravartin: Turner of the Wheel.

According to the reincarnation ideology centered on the Hindu God of Creation Brahma, all humans are a reincarnation of Brahma, and thus the entire human race is part of the same individual. (The Hindu reincarnation and transmigration timeline is sometimes ignored in our (Type-Moon) works, so don’t be silly and nitpick.)

According to this ideology, all humans will certainly attain nirvana. (become a Buddha)

This is because all humans will ultimately attain enlightenment and transmigrate.

Uhhh—Well I have no idea what I’m saying anymore, all this transmigration and immortality business isn’t easy you know! Wow! So anyways… (Remainder omitted)

To cut a long story short Amita Amitabha saves mankind from all its pain and suffering. “Everyone will become one with me through the reincarnation cycle.”

No mortal being, no human can ever go against this process. (Spoiler ahead) However, the protagonist isn’t alive in the first place, so there remains a tiny chance for him/her to survive this attack. This is because the protagonist has never experienced the pain of living, or the four kinds of suffering (birth, disease, old age, death).

If the production budget of EXTRA were 10 times larger, we would have included a system where the player would have attained enlightenment through playing the game and thus be able to overcome this attack. [TL NOTE: attain enlightenment = become a Buddha=be able to survive the attack]

When fighting against Saver we wanted to evoke the feeling that if players don’t win the battle in one turn, this “inescapable game-over attack” would activate.

By the way, in the game the actual damage is 5,670,000,000.

 

■アムネジア・シンドローム【病名】

二十一世紀に確認された感染症。

脳神経を犯すウイルス。感染者は自己と他人の境界が曖昧になり、最終的には記憶の認識さえ不可能になり生命活動を止めてしまう。

多くの感染者を出したが、感染ルートは現在も解明されていない。一説によると集団無意識を同じくするものたちに感染していくという。

 

1970年、ある科学者によって治療法が発見されるも彼の死で一時研究は頓挫。2030年、ワクチンが開発された。

 

Amnesia Syndrome [disease] P157

Amnesia Syndrome is an infectious disease identified in the 21st century.

It is a virus that violates nerves in the brain. Those infected with this disease gradually lose awareness of the boundary line between themselves and other people. Ultimately they lose all awareness of their memories and it ends their lives.

A large number of people have been infected, yet it still remains unclear how infection occurs. According to one theory the infection spreads through the collective unconsciousness of the people.

In 1970, a treatment was being developed by a certain scientist, however he died and the research remained at a standstill for many years. In 2030 a vaccine was developed.

 

■ありす【事柄】

本名不明。

自分から聖杯戦争に参加したのではなく、いつのまにか参加していたマスター。三回戦の対戦相手。

八歳ほどの可愛らしい少女の姿をしており、性格もその外見通り、無邪気でか弱い。

SE.RA.PHから膨大な魔力を組み上げるスキルを持つものの、魔術師としての生存力は主人公以下。

今まで『自分より強いもの』と戦ってきた主人公は、ここにきて『自分より弱く、好意を向けてくるもの』と戦う事になる。

その正体は電脳空間を彷裡うネットゴースト。

ありすの肉体はとうに無い。

少女は夢見るようにしSE.RA.PHを渡り歩き、新しい遊び場に辿り着く。

"知らない人たちがいっぱいあつまって、たのしそうだったから"

長くひとりぼっちで遊んでいた少女は、寂しさから生存競争に参加した。

その内容の残酷さも、相手の命を奪うという事の重さも理解できぬまま。

 

 

生前の国籍はイギリス。

第二次大戦末期、空襲によって重傷を負い余命幾ばくかの体になったのだが、少女に魔術回路がある事が判明し、以後は研究のために素体として延命させられた。

数年に続く痛みの末、少女の肉体はようやく死を迎えた。だが精神は繋げられたネットに残り続け、電脳魔として生き続けた。

少女は痛みしかなかった現実から逃げて、電脳空間という"夢の世界"を漂う事になったのだ。

彼女はネットワークを渡り歩くうちにムーンセルに辿り着き、そこで唯一のお友達・キャスターと契約。

マスターでありながら聖杯戦争に参加しない魔術師としてSE.RA.PHを眺めていたが、たまたま自分と似たマスターを見つけてしまい、彼/彼女とお話をするために本選会場まで移動してしまう。

……しかし、本選に入れば彼女もマスターの一人として戦わざるをえない。

こうして、現実から追い出された少女は電脳空間でも同じ争いに巻きこまれた。

幼いありすには殺し合いの意味も、生存競争の残酷さも分からない。

ただ漠然と、現実から逃げてきた悲しい記憶を忘れたくて、誰かと遊びたかっただけだったのに。

 

Alice [circumstances] P157

Her real name is unknown.

She did not participate in the Holy Grail War of her own will, she simply found herself as one of the Masters before she knew it. She is your opponent in the third round.

She is a young girl around eight years old with a cute girlish appearance. Her personality matches her appearance; innocent and weak. Although she possesses great magic which was put together for her by SE.RA.PH, her Magus survival instinct is weaker than the protagonist’s.

Until encountering Alice, the protagonist had only fought against stronger opponents, but now the protagonist faces a Master that is weaker than them, and also friendly.

Her true identity is a net-ghost that wanders around the cyber world.

Alice has no physical body.

She wanders through SE.RA.PH as though in a dream, coming across new places to play.

Well, I saw a lot of people I didn’t know get together, and it looked like fun.”

This little girl had played alone for a long, long time. She joined in on this life-or-death competition because she was lonely.

The Holy Grail War is a cruel competition, and she fails to understand the importance or need to steal the lives of others.

 

 

Before Alice passed away, she lived in England.

In an air raid at the end of World War II she was gravely injured and her remaining days were said to be numbered. However it was discovered that she had magic circuits, and after that she was kept alive as-is for research purposes. After a few years of experiencing continual pain and suffering, her physical body finally died. However her mind that was connected to the net remains, and she continues to live as a cyber Magus.

She had run from a reality which held only pain for her into a cyber “Dream World.”

As she wandered around the network she came across Moon Cell, and then made a contract with the only friend she’d ever had; Caster.

After formally becoming a Master, she did not immediately participate in the Holy Grail War, she just gazed upon the world of SE.RA.PH. Occasionally she would find another Master who she thought was similar to herself, and in order to speak with him/her she would descend upon the grounds of the final tournament.

However, upon entering the final tournament one cannot help but fight.

Like this, the young girl who was chased from reality was once again embroiled in conflict in the cyber world.

The innocent Alice does not understand what killing is or how cruel a life-or-death battle can be.

In spite of this, in order to forget the sad memories of the reality from which she ran away, she indistinctly embraces a desire to play with someone.

 

■アルターエゴ【事柄】

自我から分かれた別人格。オルターエゴとも。

CCCではBBから作られた上級AIたちを指す。

BBの感情から作られた彼女たちには魂があり、すでにBBとは違う生命体として活動している。

ムーンセルにおいて魂の作成はそう困難な事ではない。魂の設計自体はとっくに解明されている。問題は魂という「筐」の中に自意識が宿るかどうかだ。

アルターエゴたちは不完全なコピー形式から生まれ、その欠損を埋めようとあがく事でBBとは違う独自の自意識を獲得した。

……しかし発端であるBBが持つ「ある感情」だけは共通して受け継いでおり、そのためにパッションリップは絶望を知り、メルトリリスは破滅を受け入れた。

 

余談だが、CCC初期案ではアルターエゴは五体おり、開発中はサクラファイブと呼ばれていたとか。

リップとメルトはゲーム開始前から過酷な生存競争で生き残った、勝ち組サクラなのだった。

 

Alter Ego [event] P157

The Alter Egos are alternate personalities separated from the ego of BB. Indeed, Alter Egos.

Alter Egos are a group of high-level AI’s created by BB in CCC.

These girls who were created from BB’s emotions each have a soul, and are active in the cyber world as entities completely separate from BB.

Creating a soul is not a difficult task for Moon Cell, this is because the design and structure of souls has already been discovered. The problem lies in whether the soul can become self-aware once put into its “container.”

The Alter Egos were all created as incomplete copies, so in order to account for this flaw they were each bestowed with independent self-awareness separate from BB’s.

Each Alter Ego inherits a single emotion from their progenitor BB. This is why Passionlip is embodied with despair, and Melt Lilith is a disciple of destruction.

 

To digress, in the original design plans for CCC there were 5 Alter Egos, and during development they were called “The Sakura Five.” Before the release of CCC they were pit head-to-head in a cruel life or death competition. Passionlip and Melt Lilith are the two Sakura of the five who were victorious and survived to the end [in order to make it into the game].

 

■原初の一(アルテミット・ワン)【スキル】

白いバーサーカーのスキル。

星からのバックアップを受ける事で、敵対する相手より一段階上のスペックになるスキル。

……なのだが、マスターであるガトーの勘違いでまったく機能していない。

舞台が地球である場合、相手が地球産のものである場合は何のペナルティもなく発動するが、ムーンセルでは使用時間の制限がかかり、また、上回れない規模の存在もでてくるようだ。

 

Ultimate One (Primordial One) [skill] P157-158

This is one of White Berserker’s skills.

White Berserker receives power and support from the planet itself in order to increase her specs to be one rank higher than the enemy she is facing.

...Unfortunately due to a misunderstanding with her Master Gatou she is completely unable to use this skill.

If the location of battle is on Earth, or if her opponent is something or someone that originates from Earth, she would normally be able to activate this skill without penalty or limitation. However it seems that being on Moon Cell would restrict the length of time which this skill can be used for, as well as there being some opponents that her specs would be unable to exceed.

 

■アンデルセン【サーヴァント】

CCCで登場するサーヴァント。

毒舌厭世ショタ作家。マスターは殺生院キアラ。

クラスはキャスターだが、戦闘放棄したキアラが真名を明かしているためアンデルセンと呼ばれる。外見年齢十歳ほどの少年。

キアラに従うサーヴァントだが、中立の立場でプレイヤーと関わる。

世界にその名の鳴り響く三大童話作家のひとり。

戦闘手段を持たないので最後まで戦わないが、そういった立ち位置から『勝ちも負けもない、この物語のジャッジ役』という意味合いを匂わせている。

根暗で厭世的な詩人で、他人に好かれる気がなく、また、自分にも価値を見いだせなくなっているため、自分の人生を楽しむ、という考えが欠如している。

サーヴァントとして召還されてはいるが、アンデルセンは人生に何も求めていない。生前、望むものは何一つ手に入らなかった事が原因だろう。

 

「人生に価値があるとしてもだ。そんなものはたいてい、人間が夢想するものより下だろうよ」

と、

世の中すべてを嫌っているようにさえ見える。

しかし根は面倒見がいいのか、頼られれば応えるし、作家らしく几帳面なのでアフターケアも万全。ようは男のツンデレである。

そも、読者を楽しませよう、読者に奉仕しよう、なんて考えがなければ物書きは勤まらない。

アンデルセンは厭世家として固まってしまったが、『正しく生きよう』『全力で事を成し遂げよう』とする人間の努力を笑わない。それはかつての彼が夢想し、そうあってほしいと願った社会の姿だからだ。

 

 

外見の幼さとは正反対の言葉遣い、声質で近寄るものを一刀両断する剣客ならぬペン客。

たいていのものを「すべて醜い、価値がない」と駄目だしするので、アンデルセンが会話に入ると途端に場の空気が凍ってしまう。アンデルセンの毒舌にキアラが場を取りなす事も一度や二度ではないだろう。

しかし、厭世的かつ性悪説を認めているので偉そうに聞こえるが、アーチャー同様、冷静に捉えれば誠実な内容を口にしている。アンデルセンは上から目線で相手を批判しているのではなく、物事の真実を彼なりに真摯に語っているだけなのだ。

また完全な余談ではあるが、最初期案ではティンカーベル的な、本の妖精っぽい立ち位置が考えられていた。

EXTRAとCCCは表と裏の関係である。

それぞれのランサーが吸血鬼縛りだったように、キャスターもナーサリーライムに合わせてメルヘンなキャラクターにしたかったが、こんな憎たらしい妖精がいるか、という事で現状に落ち着いた。

 

Andersen [servant] P158

Andersen is a Servant that appears in Fate/Extra CCC.

He is a poison-tongued shota writer. His Master is Kiara Sesshoin.

Although his class is Caster he is usually referred to using his true name Anderson because Kiara, who has abandoned participation in the War, revealed it. Andersen appears to be a young boy around the age of 10.

Despite being Kiara’s Servant he interacts with the player from a neutral standpoint.

He is remembered throughout the world as one of the three great fairy tale authors.

He possesses no ability to fight, thus he does not take any part in combat throughout the game. His position in the Moon Cell Holy Grail War ever so slightly insinuates, “Without victory, without defeat, I am the one to judge this story.”

He has a dark nature and is a pessimistic poet who has no desire to be liked by others. Furthermore he is no longer able to see any remaining value in himself, and completely lacks the notion that he should enjoy, or is able to enjoy his life.

Although he was summoned as a Servant, he has no wish or desire. This is probably because while he was alive he was unable to obtain anything he wanted.

 

Even if life had some sort of value, it would surely be far less than most people fancy it to be.”

 

Like this, we can see that he has a distaste for everything in the world.

However, his true nature is to be helpful to others, and if you rely on him, he will certainly live up to your expectations. Like a good author he is conscientious, and he pays attention to all the small details. In short, he is a male tsundere.

Of course, in the first place, without the desire to entertain and to please your readers it would be impossible to work as a writer.

While Andersen is decidedly pessimistic, he advocates “Live properly.” and “Do everything you can to pursue your goals to the end.” and would never laugh at the hard work of others. This is what he once dreamed that society would actually typify.

 

 

Andersen’s young appearance is in complete contrast with his choice of words, and his voice is like a sword that cuts you in two.

In general he considers everything to be completely terrible, worthless and useless so conversation instantly freezes over when he joins in. His poisonous tongue has made Kiara stop dead and have to pull herself together more than a few times.

However, while he may come across as trying to seem self-important with his pessimism/view that humans are worthless, he is similar to Archer in that if you take what he says in a level-headed manner you will realize that he is simply speaking the truth. Andersen isn’t looking down on and criticizing others, but rather just revealing the fact of things in his own sincere way.

To digress once again, we originally considered making him a Tinkerbell-like, fairy-from-a-fairy-tale-book-like character.

In EXTRA and CCC we see two completely different sides to him.

Similar to how the various Lancers are related to vampires, we wanted to link Caster to nursery rhymes and make him a märchen-like character. Eventually we settled on the current “who would think there could be such a hateful fairy” version of him.

 

■この世、すべての欲【宝具】

アンリマユ/CCC。

変生《へんじょう》したキアラの対星宝具。

地球で自慰行為にふける最低最悪の宝具。

地球に残ったあらゆる生き物───人間、動物、植物に自分の体を捧げ、これを受け入れる事で最大の官能を会得し、成長する権能。

その在り方は、かつて人間の悪性を証明すめために悪魔と罵られ、生け贅に祭り上げられたある人工魔に類似する。

この快楽の渦は知性あるものを融かし、その『人生』を一瞬で昇華させる。わずか一瞬の、しかし永遠の極楽浄土の誕生である。

この快楽の渦はどれほど知性構造が異なっていようと、知性あるものには例外なく作用する。地球限定の宝具ではない。

条件によってダメージ数値は向とし、

異性であるならダメージ増加、

知性が高いほどダメージ増加、

という特性を持っている。

設定上の話なら、もっともダメージが低いのはアーチャー、逆に最高ダメージを受けるのがギルガメッシュの予定だった。

性能、演出、ともにスケールが大きいのはキアラがセイヴァーのサーヴァントに近い存在だから。

衆生(生きとし生けるもの)を救うために奔走する人をおしなべて菩薩と呼び、また、解脱して仏になったものも菩薩である。そして菩薩とは宇宙レベルの存在規模《スケール》を持つ天《かみ》であり、太陽系ぐらいは軽く管理している。

仏教の世界観の広大さは他の宗教とはレベルが違う。ナユタだの無量大数といった数の概念があるのは、ひとえに仏の大きさを示すために作られた物だ。

仏教において宇宙は仏の国であり、その広さも三千大千世界と呼ばれる。

銀河系が三千世界、それが千あつまったものが三千大世界、さらにそれが千あつまったものが三千大千世界。

まさに銀河、銀河団、超銀河団の尺度と言える。二千年以上も前からこの解釈を持ってるって、インドどんだけー。

開発初期、「ラスボスにはこういう事をやらせたいです」と字コンテを作りはしたものの、セロ的に通るはずがない、と諦めていたらあっさり通ってしまった。なんでこれが通ったのかはいま以て謎である。

 

All the World’s Desire [Noble Phantasm] P158-159

Angra Mainyu/CCC.

This is the anti-planetary Noble Phantasm Kiara gains after her reincarnation.

Angra Mainyu is the most self-serving heinous Noble Phantasm of them all where Kiara uses the world to masturbate.

Kiara offers her body in a sexual manner to all living things on Earth, including humans, animals, and plants. By completely accepting all people as is she gains the greatest possible mastery over their senses and carnality.

This Noble Phantasm is derided for being demonic and it’s similar to the living sacrifices used for certain artificial magic ceremonies used the past in order to prove the evil of humans.

It is a vortex of pleasure that melts all sentient beings, and digests their “life” in an instant. While in reality it all happens in an instant, but it feels like an eternity of pleasure.

Regardless of how different the structure of a beings intelligence may be, this vortex affects all without exception. It is not a Noble Phantasm that is limited to affect only those on Earth.

The damage increases if certain conditions are met.

If the target is of the opposite sex, the damage increases.

The more intelligent a being is, the more damage it does.

As far as the setting and lore are concerned, the Servant who would be hit with the least damage would be Archer, and Gilgamesh would be damaged the most.

The reason why this attack’s power, visuals, and scale are so huge is because reincarnated Kiara is a being similar to Saver.

People who devote their life to bringing salvation to Sattvas (living things) are referred to as Bodhisattvas. People who have attained moksha (libertation/release) and become Buddhas are also Bodhisattvas. A Bodhisattva is a god of universe scale and power, and can easily manage things on the scale of the Solar System.

Buddhism has a sense of scale of the universe that stands out from that of other religions. There are concepts like Nayuta (1060) and “The Infinitely Vast Number” (1068) which were created to represent the scale and size of a Buddha.

The entire universe is the domain of a Buddha. In Buddhism the universe in considered to be made up of three billion solar systems (a great trichiliocosm). A galaxy comprises of 3000 solar systems (a small trichiliocosm), and 1000 small trichiliocosms make up a trichiliocosm.

This actually aligns with the real scale of galaxies, galaxy clusters, and super clusters.

had this stuff figured out over 2000 years ago? Holy crap!

In the initial design phase of the game I submitted some paperwork describing this Noble Phantasm. I thought there would be no way that this gets by CERO untouched, but surprisingly enough it did.

I still have no idea how this was able to make it past them.

 

■祈りの弓【宝具】

イー・バウ。

緑アーチャーが持つ対人宝具。

ロビンフッドが拠点としたシャーウッドの森のイチイの木から作ったという弓。

ロビンフッドの通常武装であり、奥の手。

毒を受けている状態でこの宝具を受けるととんでもないダメージになる。対緑アーチャー戦では毒消し礼装を忘れずに。

イチイはケルト、北欧における聖なる樹木の一種であり、シャーウッドの森のイチイから弓を作るという行為は「この森と一体である」という儀式を意味する。

イチイは冥界に通じる樹とされ、ロビンフッドはその特性を知ってか、末期の時には

もともとはイチイの木を材料にしただけの弓に宝具としての力が宿るのはこういった経緯から。

イチイの弓(イー・バウ)は超自然的な力を宿し、イチイが持つ非常に強力な毒と、シャーウッドの森の再現を可能とする。

 

Bow of Prayer [noble phantasm] P160

Yew Bow.

This is Green Archer’s anti-unit Noble Phantasm.

It was made from the wood of a yew tree in Sherwood Forest, which is the forest Robin Hood uses as a base of operations.

It is both his regular bow, and his trump card.

If you are hit by this bow while poisoned you will suffer extreme damage. Make sure you don’t forget to be well equipped with poison antidotes before you fight Green Archer.

Yew trees are holy to the Celts and Northern Europeans, and the creating a bow from a Sherwood yew tree is a symbolic ritual for becoming one with the forest.

Yew trees are considered to be connected to the underworld. Robin Hood knew of this special characteristic, and towards the end of his years he declared, “I want to be buried where this arrow falls” and then loosed an arrow into the forest.  The arrow pierced the base of a yew tree, and that is where Robin Hood is said to have been buried. It was by this sequence of events that his bow made from only the wood of a yew tree came to be imbued with enough power to be used as a Noble Phantasm.

His yew bow houses ultra-nature powers such as the extremely strong poison from the yew tree, and the ability to reproduce Sherwood Forest.

 

■イタリア風悪魔さん【ゲーム】

通称・でいあぼろさん。

2030年、地上で開発・発売されたRPG。

ハック&スラッシュの金字塔とも言えるシリーズの最新作で、発表から発売まで実に十年の月日が流れたという。

高難易度でありながら普遍的なゲーム内容、単純作業でありながら奥の深いコレクション性、キャラを育てはじめたらなぜか止められない魔力に満ちた、まさに悪魔のようなゲーム。その中毒性から多くの自宅警備員を生み出した。

地上すべてを観測するムーンセルにも当然コピーされており、カルナはジナコの命令でこれを探すクエストに出るのだった。

 

Italian-style Devil [game] P160

Commonly referred to as Diablo-san.

A game that was developed and sold on Earth in 2030.

A landmark game in the hack-and-slash genre, and the best work in the series. A walloping 10 years passed from when the game was first announced to when it finally hit the market.

Despite is rather high difficulty, the game had universal appeal. The game featured simple gameplay mechanics and a deep item and character collection system. It was a game filled with that special magic where once you start leveling a character, you find yourself unable to stop; truly a devilish game. The addictiveness of this game gave birth to a great number of “home security guards.” [TLNOTE: home security guard = NEET]

Of course, Moon Cell, who has observed and surveyed all of Earth, has a copy in its system. This game shows up in a quest where Jinako orders Karna to search for it.

イデス。

アルターエゴたちが生まれながらに持つ特殊能力。

違法改造の結果、既存のスキルが変質・強化したもの。通常のサーヴァントには発現しないものが多い。

身体能力ではなく精神の在り方が発露したもの。

リップの被虐体質、メルトの加虐体質の他、

幼児退行、緊縛嗜好、同属嫌悪、などのイデスがあるらしい。

These are the special skills of the Alter Egos conferred upon them when they were created.

The skills are the result of modifications performed by various hacks. id_es skills are the Alter Egos’ existing abilities that are changed or reinforced to be stronger.

Most of them are skills that normal Servants do not possess. 

They are skills that reflect the mind or emotional embodiment of the Alter Ego, rather than being based on their physical ability (body)

The various id_es include Passionlips Masochistic Predisposition and Melt Liliths Sadistic Predisposition.  There are also others like Infantile Regression, A Taste for Bondage, and Cognate Aversion.

 

■犬空間【地形】

虚数空間の底、悪性情報の底に作られた意識の底。

ムーンセルの監視すら届かないエデンの東。

地面は一面のベルベッドに覆われているものの、それ以外は何もない虚無の寝所《ベッド》。

入り口・出口の概念もなく、果ての概念もないので脱出の手段はない。

ここに落ちたものは数珠つなぎになった時間流の中、永遠に彷復い続け、眠り続ける。

BBはさらに特殊ルール『よつんばいでなくてはならない』を追加し、心身共に主人公を陥落させにきた。

 

Dog Heaven Space [terrain] P160

This is the bottom of the imaginary number space; the bottom of consciousness made from the dregs of corrupted information. Not even Moon Cell’s surveillance can reach this East of Eden.

The ground is covered entirely in velvet, but other than that it is an empty bed of nothingness.

This place lacks the concept of “an entrance” or “an exit” as well as “limits” there is no means of escape.

Those who fall here are connected together in the flow of time, wandering aimlessly for all eternity, drifting in a sleep-like state.

BB adds a further special rule for those who reside here “You must be on all fours.” She does this to force the protagonist to surrender to her will by abusing both his body and mind.

 

■ヴアイオレット【アルターエゴ】

実現しなかったサクラファイブの一人。

純潔のアルターエゴ。

サクラファイブの中では最年長……二十代中盤……の外観をしている。長い髪にタイトに戦闘服、寡黙で知的な雰囲気をもった『大人の桜』。

役割は月の裏側における財務省のようなもので、BBから世界の流動リソース(マナ)の管理を一任されている。巨大銀行、金庫の支配者。

他のエゴたちのような奇怪なイデススキル(フェチズム)は持ち合わせていないが、固体としての完成度が極めて高い。アルターエゴというよリサーヴァントそのものの印象。

純潔であるが故に、愛着、独占欲がモチーフ。クーデレ。無口。冷酷。管理願望の化身。

自身につけた名称が単純に「ヴァイオレット」なのも、他のアルターエゴに比べて遊び心がない証明。

純潔を表す桜なので扇情的な行動・発言はしないが、主人公に興味がないワケではない。むしろ独り占めしたい気持ちすらある。彼女が求めているのは『清く正しい交際』なのだ。月の裏側の風紀を守る委員長キャラ、と言えなくもない。

 

イデススキルは『束縛願望』と『クラックアイス/アンドロメダ』。

鎖で相手/自分を束縛したい欲求を持っているが、それをひた隠しにしている。無論、周りにはバレバレである。だって使ってる武器がムチ糸じゃん!

クラックアイスは魔眼を用いた空間麻痺。対象はおろか空間すら魅了する魔の瞳。要は時間停止である。

最終的には主人公たちの味方になり、最後までマスターたちを守る『いいアルターエゴ』として活躍する予定だった。

 

Violet [Alter Ego] P160-161

Violet is one of the Sakura Five that didn’t make it into the game.

She was the Alter Ego of purity.

In her mid twenties, she was the oldest of the Sakura Five. She is the adult version of Sakura. She has long hair, a tight fitting military-style uniform, and has a taciturn, intelligent aura.

Her job is on the far side of the Moon, at a place that could be considered to be like the Moon’s Ministry of Finance. She is responsible for managing the Moon’s resources (Mana) which is sent out by BB. She is the ruler of a massive bank and its vault.

She doesn’t have any strange id_es skills (like fetishism) like the other Alter Egos, but in contrast to the others she is an almost completely fleshed out High Level AI. She is more like a Servant than an Alter Ego.

She is very pure, therefore we made her motif attachment and desire to monopolize [someone’s heart]. She is a kuudere, so she is very taciturn and cold to others. She is your typical strict manager.

She named herself simply “Violet” and she has much less desire to play around compared to the other Alter Ego.

Violet is the Sakura of purity, so she doesn’t speak or act in a inflammatory way. It’s also not like she has zero interest in the protagonist either. Conversely she wants to monopolize the protagonist and make them her own. She just wants a “clean, pure relationship.” It’s not too much to say that she is the one who is protecting public morals on the far side of the Moon.

 

Her id_es skills are “Desire to Shackle” and “Crack Ice/Andromeda.”

She has the desire to bind her target and herself in chains, she keeps this desire secret. It goes without saying, everyone around her already knows about it. Like, her weapon is a whip for God’s sake!

Crack Ice refers to her mystic eyes that paralyze a wide area. Not just her target, but literally the entire space is charmed by her eyes. In short, it’s like she can stop time.

She was supposed to be a “Good Alter Ego” who would eventually becomes the protagonists ally, and protects the other Masters until the end.

 

■日輪よ、死に随《したが》え【宝具】

ヴァサヴィ・シャクティ。

ランチャーことカルナが持つ対軍宝具。

一撃のみの光槍で、雷光で出来た必滅の槍。

インド版バスターランチャーと思いねえ。

ゲーム中ではこの宝具を筆頭に、とにかく弾丸系を撃ちまくるカルナさん。本人はまったく意図していないようだが、その格好といい、撃ち放った後の翼が散っていく演出といい、とことんヴィジュアル系のサーヴァントである。

 

Sun, Abide to Death [noble phantasm] P161

Vasavi Shakti.

Launcher Karna’s anti-army Noble Phantasm.

It is a spear made of lightning that will completely destroy anything in a single hit.

It is the Hindu version of the Buster Launcher.

In the game he goes around busting stuff up with this.

Karna has no idea himself, but between his appearance, and the feathers that are scattered around when he uses this attack, he makes for quite the Visual Kei style Servant.

 

■ヴィーナス・スタチュー【地形】

各階層の最後に立ちふさがる少女像。

センチネル化した少女の本体にして、迷宮の核。

ゲーム内では”レリーフ”と呼ばれている。壁に囚われた少女、というコンセプトでデザインされた。

本来なら物理干渉では破壊できない”世界の果て”。

その内部はBBですら立ち入れない禁猟乙女領域。

サクラ迷宮をすり抜けたところで最後にこの壁がある以上、主人公たちが何をしようが無駄なあがきにすぎないとBBは想定していた。

しかし心の専門家であるキアラの秘術によって『内部に飛び降りる』などという離れ技が実行され、無敵のセンチネルシステムは攻略可能な防壁に格落ちしてしまった。

ちなみに壁に埋め込まれた肥大化アバターはBBからのメモリ増築の結果。迷宮を自在に変革するためにはあれだけの改造が必要という事だ。

スタチューの中でセンチネルを倒し、心の淀みを振り払い、BBの支配から解放(接続を解除)されれば元の大きさに戻れる仕組み。

開発初期の名称はショコラヴェールだった。

一方、サーヴァントたちの心象世界にあるレリーフはこれとは違うもの。あれこそ深層にある”魂のカタチ”と思ってもらえばよい。

 

Venus Statue [terrain] P161

These are the statues that block the end area of each layer.

They are the true form of the girls who have been transformed into Sentinels, and thus they are each part of the Labyrinth core.

In the game they are called “relief.” The statues basically have the girls entrapped inside.

They are supposed to be “the border of the world” impervious to physical attacks. Even BB can’t enter the territory held inside them.

BB assumed that even if the protagonist and company made it through Sakura Labyrinth, if they were blocked by these impenetrable statues, they wouldn’t be able to do anything.

However, using the secret technique developed by Kiara, the protagonist was able to jump over the border into the statue interior.

The invincible Sentinel System’s last line of defense fell.

By the way, the massive avatars of the statues that are half buried in the wall are the result of being connected to BB’s expanded memory. It goes to show how much modification was needed to create the Sakura Labyrinth.

Once you get inside the statue, defeat the Sentinel, clean their heart of contamination, and free them from BB’s control (by severing their connection to BB), they will return to their original size.

Their name in the early designs was “Chocolate Veil.”

The inside of the statue is somewhat different from the inner-heart world relief. The inner-heart world should be thought of as the deeply rooted “shape of one’s soul.”

 

■魔術師【事柄】

ウィザード。EXTRAにおけるA級ハッカー。

通常のハッカーに比べて、魂レベルで電脳空間にダイブできる異能者。

通常のハッカーは、

 

・視覚のみの電子変換。

(脊髄挿入型のインターフェイスによる簡易接続。

情報を直接脳に送り込めるので、各種情報をデジタル変換する手間が省ける。恩恵はインプットのみ)

 

・視覚、触覚の電子変換。

(有線でネットに神経を繋げ、存在階梯を電子上のものとする。インプット、アウトプット、ともに能力向上。ただし電脳空間では人間としてのカタチは作れない。

あくまで一端末としての介入で、生命とは認められない。既存の回路を閲覧し、操作するだけ。回路そのものの変更・改革は不可能)

 

となるのだが、ウィザードはその上、自己の精神、自己の肉体を電子化ならぬ霊子化し、分身として送り込める。

即ち、電脳空間における魂の物質化である。

SE.RA.PHにおける電脳体とは、肉体・精神・魂の三要素を霊子化したものを指す。

 

必要なものはハッカーとしての知識・技術ではなく、肉体・精神的な才能《タレント》。

魔術回路と呼ばれる架倥神鰹を肉体に持ち、自身の本質を電脳として明確に数値化《イメージ》できる異才が必要となる。

このイメージ化の方法はウィザードごとに異なる。

演算処理によってデジタル化する者もいれば、

瞑想によってイメージを生み出すもの、

薬物投与によって逃避するもの、と様々。

2030年現在、疑似霊子ハッキングは外付けのインターフェイスで可能となったが、魔術師クラスのハッカーは希少である。

魔術師には人権があるため、西欧財閥すら独占できない。国連が管理、所属させるものとされているが、フリーの魔術師たちを秘密裏に囲おうとする国は後を絶たない。

 

 

生命の定義とは、住んでいる環境を自身の意志・行動によって変革できるもの、とされる。

魂を以て電脳空間に介入したウィザードはムーンセルによって生命と認められ、電脳空間における開拓が可能となる。

開拓……フロンティア、パイオニア……こそ人間が行うもっとも大きな意義にして罪。

その可能性をもったウィザードにとって、電脳空間は第二の現実と言っても過言ではない。

ウィザードにとって肉体はあくまでホーム。

仮に地上にある自分の肉体が死んでしまっても家に帰れなくなるだけで、開拓地に留まり、そこで消滅しないかぎり、魂が消え去る事はない。

(ただし『変化から自分を護る』殻である実肉体が失われると、その知性体の構造・価値観はたやすく変貌していくため、変質は避けられないが)

ウィザードにとって本当の死は電脳死。

電脳空間で魂が焼け落ちた時こそ、彼らは再生不可能の塵になるのである。

 

Magus [circumstances] P162

Wizards.

In Fate/Extra “Wizard” refers to A-class hackers.

Compared to your average hacker Wizards posses special abilities and can dive into the cyber world at a soul level. [TL NOTE: This probably means they can transfer their soul into the cyber world]

Ordinary hackers fall into two categories:

-Visual Perception Digitization (only visual)

(This is done through a simple spinal insert interface connection.

Information is directly streamed into the brain, so they avoid the trouble of transforming each type of information into a digital signal. Favors input only.)

-Visual and Touch Perception Digitization.

(This is done through a wired connection from the nerves to the net. It allows a hacker to project the basic components of their being onto the net. Input/Output capable, and more powerful.

However, the user is unable to project a human form in the cyber world.

This is at best a simple projection, and as such is not recognized as a life form. Their existence circuit is read from their body, and they just manipulate that projection. They are unable to change or revise their circuit.)

When it comes to Servants, Servants are in a spirit form, so their bodies and minds cannot be digitized, so they create a [physical] copy (bunshin) of themselves in order to do this.

However, their soul is indeed materialized properly in the cyber world.

As for cyber bodies in SE.RA.PH, they are composed of the spirit form of three components; body, mind, and soul.

Hacking knowledge and skills are not particularly important for Wizards, physical ability and mental prowess are far more useful. Having magic circuits (also known as imaginary nerves) in your body, and the ability to clearly conceptualize your digital self is essential to help translate the true essence of yourself accurately into a digital image in the cyber world.

 

The way of conceptualizing one’s digital image differs from wizard to wizard.

There are a variety of methods; some use computer processing, others use meditation to give birth to their image, and some even take drugs to escape from reality.

In present day 2030 it has become possible to hack in a fake spirit through an external interface, but Magus-class hackers remain a rarity.

 

Due to Magus having human rights, even the West European Plutocracy couldn’t monopolize them. Thus Magus were put under the control and management of the United Nations, however there remains a never ending list of countries who try to keep the existence of free Magus behind closed doors.

 

 

The definition of life is considered to be the ability to change the environment you live in through your own actions and of your own accord.

Since Servants can intervene in the cyber world similarly to souls, Moon Cell accepts them as living, and thus their advance into the cyber world is possible.

Expanding to new frontiers is, in a way, the greatest sin of mankind.

To wizards who posses this ability, it’s not too much to say that the cyber world is like a second reality.

A physical body is merely a “home” of sorts to a wizard.

If the physical body of a Wizard on Earth were to die, it would simply mean that they would not be able to return “home,” and they would remain in the cyber frontier. As long as their existence in the cyber world is not destroyed, their soul would not disappear. (However, the empty shell that is a Wizard’s real physical body protects them from change in the cyber world, and the loss of it will quite easily and unavoidably transform the structure of their intelligence, as well as their sense of values.)

To a wizard, the only true death is the death of their cyber existence.

Only after their souls have burned out and crumbled away will they become scrap that is no longer able to be revived.

 

■AUOキャストオフ【その他】

五章においてギルガメッシュが晒す至高の美。

シナリオ制作時つい興が乗ってキャストオフさせてしまい、スタッフさんには「ここはギルの水着で代用。カメラをアップでうまく肌の部分だけ映す事で誤魔化す」と注釈をいれたところ、「え?ギルのヌードでしょ?ありますよ?」

と、あたかも我の方が空気読めてないライターのように返答された。なぜだ。

後に、ギルの裸ばかりか女主人公の水着、体操服、はてはタイツまで『労働時間外で、自発的に』作っていたスタッフが発見され、めでたく採用となった。モデル班の国光さん、本当にありがとうございました。おかげで二週目以降の主人公はどう見ても変態です。

 

AUO Cast-off [other] P163

This is the thing of supreme beauty that Gilgamesh exposes in the fifth chapter.

While writing the script I got excited about the prospect of including a cast-off (nude) scene in the game. One of the staff suggested, “For this scene let’s have Gil in his swimsuit, and then keep the camera directed up high so we only show bare skin in order to trick the players.”

But then another staffer piped up, “Huh? You need a nude shot of Gil right? We already have one done you know.” It made me feel like I was late to the party.

After that we discovered that some staff had randomly made some extra costumes for the female protagonist outside of work hours including a swimsuit version, gym uniform and even tights. Of course we happily put them all into the game. I want to give a big thanks to Kunimitsu-san from the 3D modeling team. Thanks to you, from the second week onwards in game the protagonist is undoubtedly qualified as a pervert.

 

■転輪する勝利の剣【宝具】

エクスカリバー・ガラティーン。

ガウェインが持つ対軍宝具。柄に疑似太陽を封じ込めた聖剣。

アーサー王伝説における聖剣、エクスカリバーの姉妹剣。エクスカリバーは対城宝具だったが、こちらは城攻めより大軍相手の聖剣となっている。

アーサー王の聖剣は星の光を集め、ガウェイン卿の聖剣は日輪の熱線を顕す。

エクスカリバーは一点集中型だが、ガラティーンは押し寄せてくる敵兵たちをなぎ払うための、真横への放射型になっている。

本来の持ち主はエクスカリバーと同じく、湖の乙女である。伝承ではエクスカリバーの影に隠れ、多くを語られる事のない聖剣だった。

ガラティーンの伝承は、その姉妹剣であるエクスカリバーに塗りつぶされて多くはない。

わずかに残る伝承では、持ち主であるガウェイン同様に正午に最大のカを発揮したとされる他、切れ味に優れて決して刃こぼれしなかったという事ぐらい。

その切れ味はサラセン人の戦士プリアマスを、相手の盾と鎖帷子ごと叩き斬ったほどである。

アーサーが夜〔アルト、アルテミス系の、月の女神の名前の系譜なので)の守りであるのに対し、ガウェインは太陽の恩恵を受ける騎士である。その特性を色濃く反映した彼の宝具は太陽の熱線を顕している。

ガラティーンの原型であるカラドボルグは、虹のように長く、丘の頂天を斬り落とすほどの威力を持ったとされる。剣光を虹のように伸ばした魔剣だった。

ガラティーンもこれと同じく、抜刀し、魔力をこめると内部の疑似太陽が運動し、剣の刀身を可視できる範囲まで伸ばすという。

つまりどういう事かと言うと……十三キロや。

 

The Reincarnated Sword of Victory [Noble Phantasm] P163

Excalibur Galatine.

This is Gawain’s anti-army Noble Phantasm. It is a holy sword with a pseudo-sun sealed within it’s hilt.

This holy sword is from the legends about King Arthur. It is a sister sword to Excalibur. Excalibur is a anti-fortress Noble Phantasm, but Excalibur Galatine is anti-army.

King Arthur’s sword holds starlight within the hilt, while Sir Gawain’s sword holds the equivalent to the suns rays.

Excalibur’s attack is focused on a single target or point, but Galatine’s attack shoots out in a wide horizontal arc in order to eliminate large swathes of approaching enemy troops.

The Lady of the Lake is the original owner of both Galatine and Excalibur. Galatine is overshadowed by Excalibur in legends, and not much is said about it.

The stories about Galatine were mostly crushed by the popularity of Excalibur, and few remain known today.

From the few stories that remain, all we know is that the sword would manifest the greatest amount of power at noon (similar to Gawain), and that the blade was so well made that it never got nicked or dulled.

The blade was so sharp that it cut complete through Saracen Soldier Priamus’ shield and chain mail in a single stroke.

Arthur is the protector of the night (He is of the pedigree of Alto, Artemis, and other such Goddesses of the Moon), and Gawain is the blessed knight of the sun. The color of the sun radiates out when Gawain uses his Noble Phantasm, and it represents the suns rays. Galatine’s prototype was Caladborg. Caladborg was as long as a rainbow, and had enough power to cut off the top of a hill. Caladborg was a magic sword that could shoot out light like a rainbow.

Galatine is similar to Caladborg. By drawing Galatine from it’s sheath and supplying magic energy the pseudo-sun inside the hilt activates and the cutting edge extends as far as the eye can see.

Which means it can extend to about 13 kilometers...

 

EXTRA世界【事柄】

 

『人々の精神は管理に馴れ、文明も停滞した。

大きな悲劇は起きないが、新たな発見もない。

誰もが悲観し、ゆるやかな死を待つ世界。

それが私たちの”現実”だ。』

 

Fate/EXTRAの世界は西暦2030年の地球。

Fate/staynightとは違う、1970年代から異なる歴史を歩んだイフである。

大規模な魔術を成すためのエネルギーとなる大源《マナ》が枯渇し、魔術は本格的に地球上から失われた。

古い魔術師たちは表舞台から消え去り、神秘の時代は完全に終わりを迎えた。

以後”魔術師”を名乗るのは、霊子ハッカーと呼ばれる新時代の人類となる。

The minds of people became used to being managed and regulated, and civilization stagnated. There are no great tragedies, however there are also no new discoveries. Everyone is pessimistic in this flavorless world where you can only await death. This is our “reality”.”

 

Fate/EXTRA is set on Earth in 2030.

The world of EXTRA differs from that of Fate/Stay Night in that it has a different time line and events starting from 1970. History took a different path.

Mana, the energy required to carry out large scale magic, has dried up, and real magic has been lost from Earth.

The magicians of old have disappeared from center stage, and the era of magic has drawn to a complete close.

From then on those who called themselves “Magus” came to represent Spiritron Hackers, a new generation of mankind.

ラテン語で自我を意味する。

CCCでは『欲身』と書かれる。

センチネルにされた少女たちの人格が分割して現れたもので、基本的には”写し身”にすぎない。

そのフロアからにじみ出た意識体なので、シールド同様、基本的には攻撃を受け付けない。

SGを抜かれると消滅し、本体のいるレリーフ内部に戻っていく。

そのフロアの心なので、フロアを探索すればエゴを発見する事は難しくない。問題はその後、欲望そのものといえるエゴとどう対話し、これを解決するかだ。

 

Ego [Circumstances] P164

In latin this means one’s self; the ego.

In CCC it’s described as “One’s Desire.”

Egos are made from the fragmented personality of the girls who were made into sentinels, and are essentially no more than incomplete copies.

They are sentient beings who seeped out of the cracks on that floor, and like shields, attacking them is useless.

After making it past their Secret Garden they are destroyed, and they return to their original body.

They are the heart and core of each floor, so as you search around it’s not difficult to encounter them. However the real problem starts from then. How do you deal with an ego, the true essence of one’s desire? Will you be able to overcome them?

 

■NPC【事柄】

聖杯戦争を円滑に進めるために作られた仮想生命。

それぞれ決められた役割《ロール》があり、そこから逸脱する事はできないが、役割が決まっているとはいえ独自の思考、人格が備わっている。

NPCが生命としてリアルでなければ、NPCと接触するマスターたちの反応がリアルにならない。

そう算出したムーンセルによって、NPCたちには人工知能が与えられた。

ただし彼らの『人格』は一度きりのものであり、また、設定された人生観から逸脱する事はできない。

NPCは聖杯戦争が終わればムーンセルに経験を没収され、身体・性能・人格を含めたすべてをリセットされ、次の聖杯戦争用の『装置』として再チューニングされる。

そんなNPCたちにとってマスターたちは羨望の対象であり、また、嫌悪の対象でもある。

人間の不合理性に振り回され、道具のように消費されていく自分たちの在り方に不満を訴えるNPCも少なくはないからだ。

命を与えられながらも、その命を否定されるもの。

今そこに『有る』が、今そこに『無い』もの。

そんな彼らの不満は欝積し、一つの都市伝説を作った。輪廻転生とも呼べるメモリの使い回しの末、高い人間性───魂を獲得したものは上級AIに昇格させてもらえるという。

無論、そんな未来はない。

仮にそんな事態が起きたとしても、ムーンセルにとってそれは意味のないバグなのだから。

 

NPC [circumstances] P164

NPCs are virtual life forms created in order to allow the Holy Grail War to proceed smoothly.

They each have their own predetermined role, and they cannot to deviate from it. However despite their role being decided, they are each equipped with their own unique thoughts and personality.

If NPCs were not realistic living beings, they would not be able to evoke genuine reactions and responses from the Masters who encounter them.

Moon Cell calculated this and this is why the NPCs were bestowed with artificial intelligence.

However an NPC’s “personality” is a one-time-only prospect, and no deviation is allowed from their preset perspective of the world.

Once the Holy Grail War ends, Moon Cell confiscates their accumulated experiences including any gained physical ability, knowledge or personality development. Everything is reset, and they are equipped and re-tuned in preparation for the next Holy Grail War.

To the NPCs who know they will suffer this fate, Masters are an object of envy and even hatred.

Jerked around by the illogical actions of humans and treated as expendable tools, more than a few NPCs are unsatisfied with their existence in the world.

In a way, life is bestowed upon them, but it is also denied to them.

They are simply something that is “here” or “not here.”

Their discontent built up to the point where it gave birth to an urban legend. It’s said that at the end of their so-called reincarnation cycle, NPCs with a high level of humanity, meaning those who obtained a soul, are upgraded to be high-level AIs.

Of course, no such future exists for them.

Even if such a thing were to happen, as far as Moon Cell is concerned, it would be no more than a meaningless bug.

 

■エリザベート【サーヴァント】

CCCで登場するifランサー。

召喚マスターはランルーくん。

ランルーくんの元のサーヴァントが彼女だったのか、CCCが起きた事(始まりの昇降口以降の分岐)で黒ランサーに変更されたのかは分からない。

ただ、BBが存在してしまう歴史においては、ランルーくんのサーヴァントはヴラド三世ではなくこの少女となる事だけは確定している。

真名は大量拷問殺人で史実に残る女性、エリザベート・バートリー。

サーヴァントは全盛期の姿で召喚されるため、このエリザベートは彼女にとってもっとも美しかった頃……結婚前の十四歳の肉体と人間性……の英霊として召喚されている。

彼女にあるものは結婚前までの恋を夢見る恋愛脳と、悪魔として投獄され、死に絶える寸前の悪夢の記憶しかない。そのため、貴族令嬢としての在り方と、悪夢に冒された狂気が混同している。

サイバーゴスロリなブリブリのドレス、

背徳的な悪魔の角(実は竜の角)、

小悪魔的の八重歯(実は竜の牙)、

マイクスタンド機能を持つ槍、

と、まともな英霊には見えないデザイン。

自称・アイドルのサーヴァント。

まわりは痛い子を見る眼差しだが、エリザベート自身は本気かつ真剣、全身全霊でアイドルを演じている。

一人称は私《アタシ》。三人称はブタ、リス、ウサギ、等、下等動物になざらえた蔑称。

言葉遣いは貴族めいたものだが、ところどころに現代女子高生めいたスラングがまざる。

相手をいたぶって楽しんでいるような台詞回しが多いが、エリザはドSというより真性かつ純粋無垢なサド。主人公をなじって楽しんでいるのはBBで、エリザベートは相手を同じ生き物として見ていないからだ。

(ドSという言葉は愛情表現の一種で、『殺すための嗜虐』を『愛情からの嗜虐』に切り替えたものと思われる)

性質《アライメント》は混沌・悪。

外向的、強気、能動的。

自己愛こそ最高の価値観とする少女。

高貴だけど高飛車なアイドルで、残忍かつ冷酷。

他人の痛みがまったく分からず、むしろ痛がる他人をみてようやく”この生物は人間だ”と認識できる、精神障害者。

サディスティックに見えるが、彼女にとって『人間を傷つける事』は呼吸をする事と変わらない。

エリザベートにとって、人間(下々のもの)を苦しめる事は義務であり職務だからだ。

彼女は貴族主義の権化でもあるので、民衆を支配・管理する事には真剣にとりくむ。こう見えて、与えられた仕事への責任感が強いのである。

問題なのは、彼女にとって支配・管理とは拷問に他ならない、という事なのだが。

 

                                   

「聖杯も人類も私の知ったコトじゃないわ。

文明なんて滅びても一向に構わないし。大事なコトは一つだけ。私だけが永久に、誰よりも美しい女でなくちゃいけないの!

だから───ねえ?みんな、ブタのように死になさい?その血を私に浴びせる程度しか、役に立たない奴隷なんだから!」

 

生前のエリザベートは自分の美しさに執心し、これを保つためにあらゆる背徳・犯罪行為を行った。

領民たちから娘を取り上げ、これを拷問のすえ惨殺。若さを保つ美容法として、浴槽を少女たちの血で満たしたと言われている。

彼女にとって自身の美しさは『当然』のもの。それを保つための行為は、どのようなものであれ自然だったのだろう。

快楽殺人者として誤解されがちなエリザベートだが、彼女は殺人行為に快楽を感じた事はない。いつも醜く劣化していく体に怒りを覚え、その怒りを領民に叩きつけていた。

彼女が「これ最高!」と悦びにうち震えたのは、サーヴァント化してから知った『日本のアイドル』というジョブである。

以後、彼女は最強のアイドルになるため日夜研讃している。ライバルは赤セイバー。

エリザベートはサーヴァントになって、はじめて『少女らしい喜びとライバル』を見いだした。

一方、自分の美しさにしか関心がなかったため、実のところ性知識や体験にものすごく疎い。

エリザベートにとって『男』とはかしずくもの、貢ぐもの、時に可愛らしいもの(エリザベートの美しさに心酔し、破滅する様が)で、つまるところはブタである。

同時に『女』は奴隷であり、時に母であり恋人であり、自分の美しさを保つ材料。つまるところは食い物である。

CCCでは女性のエゴが描かれるが、その中で『自分の容姿に固執する面』を受け持っている。

BBたちが恋人に向ける感情、

工口魔人が世界に向ける感情だとすると、

エリザベートはひたすら自分だけの幸福を求めている。肉体的に残酷な行為もエリザベート担当だが、性的な喜びに関しては一切触れていない事が、彼女の純潔っぷりを現している。

 

また、ヴラド三世と同じく、スキル・無皐の怪物によって怪物化が進んでいる。

角も悪魔の角ではなくドラゴンの角だ。

実は体の一部(尾てい骨あたり)に鱗があって、見られると本人は恥ずかしさのあまり赤面、パニックの後に見た者を殺すか結婚するしかないようなラブコメ展開になると誰かが得をする。

ここから裏話。CCC終盤で凛が「ランサーのカルマが減ってる」と話すが、アレは何も善行を行ったからではない。

単に、主人公に協力したエリザベートの行為によって救われた人類の数が、生前の彼女が殺害した人間の数を上回ったからである。感情のないムーンセルらしい判定だ。

なのでカルマが減り、自由になったところでエリザベートが負う罪の重さは永遠に変わらない。

 

Elizabeth [servant] P164-166

Elizabeth shows up in CCC as an if Lancer*see note at end.

The Master who summons her is Run Ru.

It’s not clear if she is Run Rus original Servant, or if she took the place of Black Lancer through the events of CCC (At the branching point a bit after the start of the game).

All we know is that in the time line where BB exists, Run Ru’s Servant is not Vlad III, but rather this young girl.

Her true name is that of a historical woman who was a mass serial killer and torturer; Elizabeth Bathory.

As a Servant she is summoned with the body and appearance she had during her golden days, which were the days when she found herself to be most beautiful. Summoned as a Heroic Spirit as she was before her marriage and with her body and character being that of when she was 14. As her 14 year old self she retains only two things. First, her dreams of love and the romance oriented mentality she had before her marriage. Second, memories about the nightmare that was her imprisonment as an evil creature shortly before her death. Because of this, her existence as a Servant is a confusing mix of her time as a young noble lady, and the time she was assaulted by that crazed nightmare.

Wearing a cyber-goth-loli dress, she has immoral devil horns (actually dragon horns), and the protruding fangs of a little devil (actually dragon fangs), and a lance that can double as a microphone stand. Her design doesn’t seem to reflect her as a proper Heroic Spirit.

She is a self-appointed “Idol Servant.”

Although those around her always see her as being a bit socially awkward, Elizabeth is always serious about perfectly acting as an idol using both mind and body.

She uses the personal pronoun (watashi), and she refers to other people in a derogatory fashion as “pig,” “squirrel,” “rabbit,” and the names of other inferior animals.

Her use of words is generally like that of a noble person, however from time to time she mixes in some slang used by modern high school girls. She says a lot of things that makes it seems like she enjoys tormenting the people around her, but rather than simply being extremely sadistic, she’s more of an innocent pure sadist. While BB has fun getting to know the protagonist, Elizabeth doesn’t even see her opponents as similarly living beings. (Sadistic behavior is just one way to express love, and her character deviates from the historical version in that she doesn’t focus on a “Sadistic desire to kill” but rather “Sadism that’s born from love”).

 

Her alignment is chaos and evil.

Outgoing, strong spirited, active.

She values narcissism above all.

High class, yet always with the high horsed idol attitude. She is cruel and cold.

Completely unable to understand the pain of others, she has a mental disorder where only after seeing someone in pain does she recognize “this creature is human.”

She may seem sadistic, but to her harming and causing pain to others is no different from breathing.

To Elizabeth, inducing the suffering of humans (who are all lower level creatures than herself) is her duty.

She is an incarnation of nobility, and seriously carries out her responsibility to rule and manage the masses. From this perspective she is very diligent and responsible towards her work.

The problem is that to her, ruling and managing the masses means nothing more than their torture.

 

 

I don’t give a shit about the Grail and the human race. I wouldn’t even care a bit if civilization were completely destroyed. There’s only one thing that’s important. And that’s that I’m more beautiful than anyone else for all of eternity!

You understand, right? Why don’t you all go die like the pigs you are? The only thing you could ever be good for is dying so I can bathe in your blood you useless slaves!”

 

When Elizabeth was alive she was extremely attached to her own beauty, and taking this to the extreme is what brought her to carry out immoral and criminal actions. She would steal away people’s daughters, and after plenty of torture, she would slaughter them.

It’s said that she bathed in a bath filled to the brim with the blood of young girls as a way to preserve her youth.

To Elizabeth, her own beauty was an undisputed matter of course. In order to preserve her beauty, anything was permitted, no matter how heinous the action may be. Any action carried out to preserve her beauty was just part of the natural way things should be.

Although she is often misunderstood as someone who killed for pleasure, Elizabeth never took pleasure in killing. She was simply driven into a rage by the ugly and inferior bodies of others, and this rage was then beaten into the bodies of her victims.

Trembling in joy and excitement and exclaiming “This is the best!” was something that she only came to know after becoming a Servant, as it is part of her job as a Japan-style idol.

After becoming a Servant, she completely devoted herself to becoming the greatest and strongest idol. Her rival is Red Saber.

Only after Elizabeth became a Servant did she first experience the girlish happiness and fun of having a rival.

 

One thing to note is that because she had no interest in anything other than her own beauty, sexual knowledge and experience is completely alien to her.

To Elizabeth men are no more than Servants, or a source of money, or sometimes givers of girlish, cute gifts (Although it seems that those who adored her beauty often met a bad end). When it comes down to it men are nothing more than pigs.

On the other hand, as far as Elizabeth in concerned, women are no more than slaves. The women around her were sometimes mothers or lovers, but in the end they were just raw materials to help preserve her beauty. Ultimately, they were like livestock; nothing more than food to sate her appetite.

In CCC the female ego is a main theme, and there we have highlighted “the stubbornness a woman holds about her appearance.”

The BBs are focused on the feelings that a girl has for their lover, and the feelings that a perverted devil would direct at the world, but Elizabeth is focused solely on her own happiness. Although Elizabeth is responsible for carrying out cruel physical punishment, she has not once encountered sexual pleasure. This goes to show how pure she is.

 

Also, like Vlad III, through the skill “Innocent Monster” she is partially transformed into a monster.

Her horns are not the horns of a devil but the horns of a dragon.

Actually part of her body (around her tailbone) is covered in scales. If seen she becomes extremely embarrassed and her face turns bright red, after that the person who saw her scales will face the romantic-comedy like choice of being killed by her or marrying her.

 

The following is an inside story. Towards the end of CCC Rin talks about how “Lancer’s karma is decreasing.” However this is not because she has committed any good deeds.

Simply, the actions of Elizabeth (who is working hard for the protagonist) end up saving more people than she killed when she was alive. Her change in karma is due to the judgment of the emotionless Moon Cell. Thus her karma decreases, but at the point when she becomes free, the weight of her sins will remain forever unchanged.

 

[*TL NOTE: Here if refers to a scenario or character development that is alternate to the main storyline or something that is non-canon. Typically done as fanservice. “What if...”]

 

■黄金の鹿号【宝具】

ライダーが宝具を展開した時に乗っている船のこと。フランシス・ドレイクの愛船である。

全長37メートル弱、船首と船尾に4門ずつの砲を持つ他に、両側舷にも14の砲を搭載。

当時はまだ海戦の主流は船をぶつけてのボーディング戦であったのだが、この船は後にアルマダ海戦で取る戦法をすでに反映してか、遠距離砲撃戦が可能な仕様であった───もっとも海賊行為には相手の船を痛めつけないボーディング戦が適していたので、相手が脅しだけでは降伏しないような敵の場合はボーディングを仕掛けたようだ。

出港時はペリカン号という名が与えられていたガレオン船であったが、エルドラゴはこの名を「格好が悪い」(またはゲンが悪い)という理由で改名した。

……なので、ペリカンと言われるとマジギレすると姐さんバカ可愛い。

 

The Golden Hind [Noble Phantasm] P166

This is the boat that Rider sails on when she activates her Noble Phantasm. It’s Francis Drake’s beloved boat.

At a length of a little less than 37 meters, both the bow and stern of the ship each have 4 cannon portholes, while the sides of the ship each have 14.

In this boat’s heyday the main form of naval combat was still boarding the enemy ship after smashing into it, but this boat’s design reflects that it was able to be used in armada naval battles by employing long range cannons. It seems that if the target ship could be intimidated into surrendering, these cannons were not used. Of course standard pirate strategy revolves around forcing the target ship to surrender without damaging it, and then proceeding to board it.

The galleon’s original name was “The Pelican”, but Drake thought this name was lame (or at least ill-omened), so he changed it.

...This is why when someone mentions the name “The Pelican to Rider she gets seriously ticked off, but her foolish anger is kind of cute.

 

■オシリスの砂塵【その他】

パッションリップ戦に備えてラニが開発してくれる万能礼装。

リップのキューブ圧縮による即死を防ぐばかりか、あらゆる状態以上をシャットアウトする脅威の砂嵐。

なぜオシリスなのかは格闘ゲーム『MELTYBLOODActressAgain』のラスボスを参照のこと。

緑アーチャーの毒はおろか、カルナの阻石さえ防ぐ。

癒やしの香木とは何だったのか。もうラニさんひとりでいいんじゃないかな。

 

Dust of Osiris [other] P166

Dust of Osiris is the all-purpose Mystic Code that Rani develops for you to use in your battle against Passionlip.

You use this in order to avoid instant death from Lip’s cube compression attack. This Mystic Code is a raging sand storm that blocks anything that would try to affect/change your status.

To find out why it has the name “Osiris” please refer to the last boss of the fighting game Melty Blood Actress Again. It blocks Green Archer’s poison, and even Karna’s meteorite attack.

What was that soothing aromatic tree? Well in any case Rani-san alone is good enough, right?

 

■乙女コースター【地形】

心の最中《さなか》に落ちていく路《みち》。

開発当初から乙女コースターと呼ばれていたが、ゲーム中ではさすがに”コースター”とのみ表記された。

映像、BGM等の演出力のおかげで、初突入時の「なんかおかしなの始まったーー!?」感は異常。

ほんと、このゲームどこにいくんだ、と思ってもらえれば開発陣の苦労も報われます。

コースターの速度や散っていくオブジェクトはヒロイン毎に違い、それぞれの特色を現している。

たとえばリップは花。

ラニは星占いの星。

凛は……ゴージャスな……宝石……。

EXTRAにおけるエレベーターを彷彿させるギミックだが、こちらは相手との対話はなし。一方的に乙女ポエムを聞き、ぐんにょりするターンである。

ちなみに、コースターで流れるボスヒロインのモノローグは彼女たちの『日々の痛み』が再生されているだけなので、決戦場にいるヒロインたちはあんなポエムを主人公に聞かれているなんて露も知らないのであった。

 

Maiden Coaster [terrain] P166-167

This is the road that goes down to the bottom of one’s heart.

From the very start of game development it was called “Maiden Coaster” but in the final game it was of course changed to just “Coaster.”

 

When you first enter the area, the visuals and background music give you the feeling that something crazy is about to start.

If you stopped and wondered, “Really? What the heck is going on?” it’s thanks to the great effort of the development team.

The speed of the coaster and scattering objects differ from heroine to heroine, and reveals their special characteristics.

For example Passionlip’s coaster features flowers.

Rani’s features astrological star constellations.

Rin’s features… gorgeous…jewels…..

It’s a gimmick that resembles the elevator in EXTRA, but here there is no conversation with the maidens, you just listen to their monologue of poems and enjoy a passive turn.

By the way, the monologue of the boss heroines who come down in the coaster once again discusses their “day to day pain,” but the boss heroines who show up in the final battle area have no idea they told the protagonist such poems.

 

■女の話【その他】

各章開始時に朗読される詩。

その章の主題であるボスを暗示してはいるが、その実、全てを通して見ると『ある人物』を語るものになっている。ただし『幕間』の語りはBBによるものなのでこのかぎりではなく、通常ルート七章のものはBBだけにむけられたもの。

 

Girl’s Talk [other] P167

This refers to the passage beautifully read aloud at the beginning of each chapter.

It hints at the main boss of the chapter, but actually if you examine all of the passages together you will notice that they are about a certain character. However, aside from BB’s talk about “interludes” all the other passages in the main route are about BB.

■C.C.C.【宝具】

カースド・カッティング・クレーター。

対星宝具。ムーンセルを掌握したBBによる、世界を犯す攻撃。疑似霊子陥穽とも。

BBが獲得したEXスキル『百獣受胎《ポトニア・テローン》』を最大限に活用した、事象書き換えによるワールド・パージ。

BBに侵食された空間は虚数空間となり、現実を蝕む呪いとなる。『C.C.C.』はその名の通り、現実をえぐり切り取る呪いの大穴なのだ。

カースド~という名前は、『月の表面を巨大なスプーンでえぐり取り、呪いの空間(虚数空間)にする』というイメージから。

まだゲームのイメージが固まっていない開発初期ではstaynightの黒桜をオマージュした宝具と考えられていた。

1.カメラ、BBにアップからロングに思いっきり引く。BBの背後の空間が黒くなる。BB、男性を迎え入れるような、両手を広げたポーズをして背後の黒領域に溶けていく。

2.カメラ、さらにロングに引く。人物を写すのではなく風景を映す絵に。地面を水平ではなく斜めに移すカメラ。地面と地平線が斜めに移ることにより、見ているユーザーの不安定さを演出する。

カメラをロングに引いたので地平線がより明確に見える。その地平線の向こうに巨大なBBのヴィジョン(黒桜オマージュ)が現れる。

3.巨大黒桜、妖艶に笑いながら手のひらで主人公が立つ地平ごと、ゴバッとすくいあげる。プリンをスプーンで切り取るような滑らかさ。

4.巨大黒桜のヴィジョン、主人公たちをすくい上げた空間ごと握りつぶす。Fate/staynightであった黒化した桜が間桐臓硯の虫を潰すシーンのオマージュだと分かるとグッド。

……というのをやりたくはあったが、この宝具のためにCCC版黒桜を一からデザインするコストを払うなら他にコストを払おう、という事で没に。

BBも言っているように、資源《コスト》は無限ではない。サーヴァントたちに水着を着せるためには、やむなくカットされるものもある。

 

C.C.C. [Noble Phantasm] P167-168

Cursed Cutting Crater.

An anti-planetary Noble Phantasm. It’s an attack that violates the world through BB’s control over Moon Cell.

It’s also a trap for artificial spiritron hackers.

By drawing out the maximum potential of BB’s EX skill Potnia Theron, a world purge via rewriting of events is carried out.

The space that BB invades becomes an imaginary space and it becomes a curse that eclipses the world. Just like its name C.C.C. it causes huge damage from the curse cutting away at reality.

The name “Cursed” is based on the image of a giant spoon that scoops out the surface of the Moon and turns it into a cursed space (the imaginary space).

During development when the shape the game would take was still being decided we considered making it a Noble Phantasm that was homage to Black Sakura.

 

 1.  Camera: Close up of BB followed by a rapid zoom out of the camera. The sky behind BB becomes black. BB, as if to welcome a man, spreads her arms wide and then melts into the darkness of the background.

 2.  The camera is placed even farther away; the goal is not to show the characters, but to show the backdrop and scenery. The camera shows the ground which appears to be tilted diagonally. The tilted ground and horizon make the viewer feel uneasy. The camera is pulled far back, so the horizon can be seen more clearly. On the other side of the horizon is a phantasm of a giant BB (homage to Black Sakura).

 3.  The giant Black Sakura, with a bewitching laugh, then reaches out and scoops up the ground that the protagonist is standing on. It looks as easy as if she just scooped out a bite of pudding.

 4.  The giant phantasm closes her hand and crushes everything in her hand, protagonist and all. It’s great if you can tell this is homage to the scene in Fate/stay night where Black Sakura crushes the insects of Matou Zouken.

 

is what we wanted to do, but the cost to design and implement this Noble Phantasm and Black Sakura from scratch was high enough that we decided to use the money elsewhere. Hence it was axed.

Like BB says, money isn’t unlimited. In order to get the Servants all dressed up in their swimsuits, there had to be some cuts in other areas of the game.

 

■ガウェイン【サーヴァント】

クラス目セイバーのサーヴァントだが、初登場時から真名を名乗っているため、本編ではガウェインと呼称されている。マスターはレオ・B・ハーウェイ。

すらりとした長身でありながら頑強な体つき、かつ、穏やかで甘いマスクをした美男子。

本人は滅私奉公を第一としており、王と認めたレオの剣に徹している。レオが会話している時は決して自分を出さず、レオの名代として前に出た時のみ会話をする。

その口調は涼やかで、相手を軽んじる事も侮辱する事もない。たとえ相手が力量不足でも、その戦意・覚悟をくみ取り、礼節をもって相手をする。

 

ガウェイン卿はアーサー王伝説に登場する円卓の騎士のひとりだ。アーサー王の甥であり、アーサー王の片腕と称されたランスロットに並ぶ騎士である。

伝説では王を助けられなかった結末を持つが、その忠誠心は最後まで誠だった。

サーヴァントとして召喚されたガウェインはその無念を残しており、今度こそは王の宿命を持つ者を補佐し、一振りの剣として尽くしきる、と誓っている。

幸運な事に、マスターであるレオは彼が剣を捧げるに相応しい人物だった。

レオという、生まれながらに王聖を獲得している幼い王を守り、羽化させる事が自分の役割だとガウェインは信じている。

……もっとも。ガウェインはレオに足りないものは敗北であり、人の王である以上、いずれその刻が来る事を知っていた。

いや。そうでなければ人を治める王として完成しない事を、円卓時代に思い知ったのだ。

この清廉潔白な騎士は、ユリウスのように絶対なものとしてレオを信奉するのではなく、いずれ絶対なものになるレオの剣になる事を誓った。

「───もちろんです。

貴方にその刻《とき》がくるまで、私は勝ち続けます」

そうレオに語るガウェインの姿は、弟の成長を見守る実の兄のようだ。

ガウェイン卿はレオに『その刻』とは何なのか、最後まで語ることはなかった。ガウェインを信頼するレオも、『その刻』とは何なのかだけは読めず、聖杯戦争を勝ち進んでいく事になる。

 

Gawain [servant] P167-168

He is a class Saber servant, but due to the immediate reveal of his true name in his first appearance he will be referred to as Gawain in this book. His Master is Leo B. Harwey.

Gawain has a well-proportioned tall and sturdy body. He is cast as a calm and sweet handsome man.

He considers selfless devotion to be of the utmost importance, and he has dedicated his sword to Leo, whom he has recognized as a true king. When Leo is talking Gawain never tries to express his own views, and he only speaks as a representative of his Master’s opinion.

His voice and tone are clear and refreshing, and he would never insult his enemy even when they are down. Even if his opponent is lacking in power or ability, Gawain courteously engages with them out of consideration for their desire for battle and their determination.

 

Sir Gawain appears in The Legend of King Arthur, and is a Knight of the Round Table. He is King Arthur’s nephew, and appears alongside Lancelot as one of King Arthur’s most trusted knights.

In the legend Gawain ends up being unable to save the King, however his loyalty was true to the end.

His regrets remain after being summoned as a Servant, so he is determined that this time he will be of assistance to those who hold sway over the fate of the King, and he has sworn to give it his all with every swing of his sword.

Luckily, the Master to whom Gawain has pledged his sword to seems to be very suitable for him.

Gawain believes that through birthright Leo possess the right to become king, and that it is his role protect and nurture the development of the young king.

at least at first. Gawain eventually learns that Leo has never experienced defeat, and as the people’s king that it is something that Leo will eventually encounter.

No. It’s more that from his time as a Knight of the Round Table he was thoroughly taught the lesson that without experiencing defeat, a person can never become a true ruler of the people.

This upstanding and honest knight doesn’t believe in Leo unconditionally as Julius does, but has sworn to be Leo’s sword until the inevitable time comes when Leo will become a true ruler.

Of course. Until that time comes, I will continue to be victorious.”

As Gawain discusses Leo like this, it’s as if an older brother is watching over his younger brother’s growth.

Even to the end, Sir Gawain never tells Leo what “that time” is. Leo, trusting in Gawain does not try to discover what “that time” refers to, and together they continue their streak of victories in the Holy Grail War.

メルトリリスのイデススキル。

戦闘において、自己の攻撃性にプラス補正がかかる。

プラスのように思われがちだが、これを持つ者は戦闘が長引けば長引くほど加虐性を増し、普段の冷静さを失ってしまう。バーサーカー一歩手前の暴走スキルと言える。攻めれば攻めるほど強くなるが、反面、防御力が低下してしまう。一対一の戦闘ではそれなりに有効なスキルだが、団体戦や探索を主にしたプレイ時間のなが~い冒険ではリスキー。

 

Sadistic Predisposition [skill] P169

This is Melt Lilith’s id_es skill.

During battle, she increases her attack rating. The longer a battle goes on for, the more her sadistic tendency increases, and she loses her cool. This skill is just one step away from turning her into a Berserker. The more she attacks, the stronger her attacks become, but on the other hand her defense capability decreases. A very effective skill in one-on-one battle, however in drawn out group battles or dungeon exploring it proves to be risky.

 

■各ENDの分岐【ネタバレ】

CCCでは大きく二つのENDルートがある。

七章に入った段階でフラグが成立し、

桜よりのイベントをこなしていると真ルートへ。

桜にかまわずサーヴァントイベントをこなしているとサーヴァントルートへ移行する。

七章に入った時のタイトルはそれぞれ違うものなので、どちらのルートになったかは一目瞭然となる。

……ただし、真ルートに入ったからといってサーヴァントENDが見られない訳ではない。

真ルートの場合、最後の扉を開く時に選択枝が出現し、どちらのルートに寄るのかを選択できる仕様になっているのでご安心を。

また、真ルートが真ルートと呼ばれている理由は、それが物語の真相を明かすルートだから……だけではない。”サーヴァントとの別れ”こそが国電の真骨頂であり、正統な結末であるからこそ真ルートと命名された。

 

Branching point for each ending [spoilers] P169

There are two main endings in CCC.

The flags you’ve triggered are tallied when you enter the seventh round.

If you’ve seen more Sakura related events, you will be headed for the true end.

If you’ve ignored Sakura and focused on a Servant, you will be headed for a Servant end.

The title of the seventh chapter is different depending on the route you’ve entered, so you can tell at a glance which route you are on.

…However, just because you’ve entered the true end route it doesn’t mean it’s impossible to reach a Servant end.

When on the true end route, when you open the last door you will be presented with a variety of choices which will affect which route you will ultimately head down, so don’t worry if you were aiming for a Servant end, it’s still possible.

The reason that the true end route is the “true” end is because it’s the route that reveals the truth of the story aspects that the protagonist doesn’t know yet. But it’s not only that. “Bidding farewell to your Servant” is an incredibly important part of Fate works, and so the true end route was selected as the true ending because it has a proper Fate style conclusion.

■串刺城塞【宝具】

カズィクル・ベイ。

ランサーの持つ対軍宝具。

串刺し公・ヴラド三世の代名詞とも言える宝具。

魔槍から放つ、呪いと鉄槌の拷問魔城。

相手が持つ不義・堕落の罪に応じて痛みを増す、まさに正義の一撃である。

ゲーム中では死の叫びをあげるマンドラゴラの如く、敵の足下から無数の槍が突き上がり、大ダメージを与える。

加えてバッドステータス・呪いまで付与される。

敵対したすべての敵兵が対象になるため、対一より一対多で真価を発揮する。

また隠し要素として、カズィクル・ベイは”粛正の対象”にあたる人間へ増加ダメージを持つ。

相手が『逃走』『不道徳』『暴力』を犯している場合、その破壊力を増していくのだが、犯罪経歴のない主人公にその追加はなかった。

 

当時、一般庶民への串刺し刑はバルカン半島を含む北地中海圏ではさして珍しい刑罰ではなかった。

しかしヴラド三世は2度目のワラキア公への即位の際、あまりにも腐敗し、堕落しきった自国の貴族たちの姿を見て憤慨。

国を荒廃させた原因はその貴族らにあると見て、未曾有の大粛正を敢行する。その粛正の要となったのが、貴族に対する串刺し刑だった。

貴族と庶民が厳しく分割されていたワラキアにおいて、これは相当にショッキングな事実だったと推測される。

領民たちの中でヴラド公の苛烈さ、恐ろしさを感じなかった者はいなかっただろう。

以降、串刺しはヴラド三世の十八番となり、彼は1459年、トルコの使者を生きたまま串刺しにするなどの所業に出ている。

 

The Fortress of Impalement [noble phantasm] P170

Kazikli Bey.

Lancer’s anti-army Noble Phantasm.

This is a Noble Phantasm derived from Vlad III’s posthumous title – Vlad the Impaler.

It’s a magic torture castle that pierces victims with magic lances which curse and deal heavy damage.

The pain caused by it increases depending on the immoral and deprave sins they have committed; it’s truly an attack of great justice.

In the game, Mandragoras, screaming as though they were dying, burst out from under the feet of enemies and pierce them with countless lances that cause huge damage.

Furthermore, the attacks apply the negative status effect curse.

The attack affects all enemy units, so it’s true value is only displayed in one vs. many situations rather than one-on-one.

Also, as a hidden component, Kazikli Bey’s damage is increased when used on people who qualify as “enforcement targets.”

If the enemy has committed the crimes of escape from prison, immorality, or violence, Kazikli Bey’s destructive power increases. There is no extra damage when used against the protagonist because they have no criminal record.

 

At the time Vlad III was alive, punishing commoners with impalement wasn’t unusual in the Balkan Peninsula and Northern Mediterranean Sea areas.

But then, after Vlad III took up the role as Wallachia’s lord and leader for the second time, he became fed up with the extreme corruption and depravity of the nobles in his country.

He decided that the decline of Wallachia was due to these nobles, and took decisive action against unprecedented numbers of them. His primary method of enforcement and punishment was impalement.

In Wallachia, where nobles and commoners had previously been subject to very different treatment and rules, it’s presumed that Vlad’s actions were extremely shocking.

There was surely no one in the land who did not feel the severity and horror of Lord Vlad’s actions.

After routing the nobles, impalement became Vlad’s favorite method of punishment, and in 1459 he even went so far as to impale the emissary of the Ottoman Empire (Turkish Empire) alive, among other deeds.

 

■カズラドロップ【アルターエゴ】

実現しなかったサクラファイブの一人。

慈愛のアルターエゴ。

他のアルターエゴと違い、人間を憎めず、むしろBBやエゴたちの在り方……矛盾だらけの在り方……に疑問を持ってしまっている。

カズラドロップはおとなしく献身的な性格で、AIとして間違いのない、完全なかたちに戻りたがっている。

看護師《ナース》をイメージしたアルターエゴで、いちばん清楚で幼い。戦闘能力こそ皆無だが、ウイルスチェッカーに特化したAI。バグをおこしたデータが無抵抗ならこれを洗浄し、無力化する事ができる。お注射大好きな健康マニアでもある。

……とまあ、ここまで書けばなぜ没になったかは明白だ。保健室の間桐桜とキャラ属性がかぶっているため、もっとも早くカットされたアルターエゴ。

あくまで初期アイデアではあるが、ダンジョン内にはノーマル桜たちが集まる村があり、そこにカズラドロップが住んでいた。

 

カズラ「ようこそ。ここは、穏健派の桜たちが集まった集落です」

凛「……いくらなんでも人格分裂しすぎよね、この子」

カズラ「わたし達の源である桜の滴を還元してくれたら、アイテム提供や体力回復が可能ですよ

 

などという超展開。

初期のCCCはサクラメントではなく「桜の滴」とよばれるソースを集め、保健室の桜に投与する事で世界の支配率《シュア》を奪い返していく、というものだった。これはその一例。

イデスは『同属嫌悪』と『インセクトイーター』。

 

Kazuradrop [alter ego] P170

Kazuradrop is one of the Sakura Five that didn’t make it into the game.

She is the Alter Ego of affection.

Unlike the other Alter Egos, she doesn’t hate humans. Conversely she actually questions the contradiction-filled actions of BB and the other Alter Egos.

Kazuradrop is a gentle and quiet girl with a personality that values others over herself. She wants to return to being a complete AI, devoid of the errors that riddle the Alter Egos.

We designed her to be a nurse, so she is always neat and tidy. She is also very young and has absolutely zero combat ability. She is a specialized AI designed to work as a virus scanner. She would fix up or neutralize corrupted data or code that cause bugs. She is a health nut who loves to give her patients injections.

…Well, it’s easy to tell why she was cut after reading this far. She was too similar to Matou Sakura who works in the School Infirmary, so Kazuradrop was cut at a relatively early stage.

One of our ideas in the early games design phase was to have a village located in a dungeon where the various Sakuras would gather. Kazuradrop was supposed to live in that village.

 

Kazuradrop: “Welcome! This is a village where the more moderate minded Sakura gather.”

Rin: “…Don’t you think this girl has gone way too far splitting up her ego?”

Kazuradrop: “If you return to us the Drops of the Sakura we originated from, we will give you items and heal you!”

 

Maybe things would’ve ended up like that.

Originally there was no Sakurament and instead there were “Sakura Drops” which were once part of the source Sakura. By gathering them and trading them for prescriptions from the School Infirmary Sakura you would be able to take back a share of the world and put it under your control. This was one of the methods of doing so.

Kazuradrop’s id_es skills are “Hatred of Brethren” and “Insect Eater.”

 

■ガトー【人物】

本名、臥藤門司《がとうもんじ》。

自称、あらゆる宗教を学び、あらゆる神学を走り抜けたスーパー求道僧。

性格は豪快、不屈、そして単純。話の通じない、暴走機関車のような人物。古今東西の宗教・神話を極めたというが、その根底にあるのは仏教のようだ。

混迷と消費の時代において彼なりに真剣に仏心を求めた結果がこれ、誰から見てもうさんくさいエセ坊主の誕生であった。

過酷かつヒッピーな修行の末、アリゾナで霊的インスピレーションを得た後にヒマラヤ登山に単独挑戦、山頂付近にて”原始の女”と出会う。

しかし悲しいかな、原初の神性と運遁しながら、人間にはこれを定義する言葉がなかった。

ガトーは彼女を新たな女神として布教するため、あんまり好きじゃなかったムーンセルの門を叩いた

驚くべき事にこの男、もう何年も前から優秀な人材としてムーンセルに招かれていたのである。なぜだ。

支離滅裂な言動、問答無用で襲いかかってくる事から野蛮な人物と思われがちだが、ガトー自身は戦いが三度の飯より好きなだけで、殺人嗜好はこれっぽっちも持ち合わせていない。

彼が聖杯戦争でバーサーカーの如き振る舞いをしているのは、単純に『敵は倒す。戦いには勝つ』という真理を体現しているにすぎない。

出遭う場所が聖杯戦争でなければ、ガトーモンジはただうざいだけの、それなりに話の分かる好人物となるらしい。

 

                                   

CCCでも登場するマスター。

いち早く生徒会に参加し、事態の収束に努めようとするあたり、さすがのスーパー求道僧である。機を見るに敏なり、まさに悩みはエルシャダイ。

レオから応援団長の役職をもらい、暇を見ては校舎裏で薪割りなどもしていたが、CCCという状況においても自分を見失わず、自分に出来る事をまっすぐに見据えていた。

旧校舎では使命(……原始の女を布教する……)は果たせないため、ガトーは普段の強引さが抜け、リラックス状態にある。皮肉な事に、本筋ではない状況が彼の長所を最大限に引き出す事になった。

表側では自分以外のマスターは敵だったが、月の裏側では殺し合う理由はない。そんな当たり前の考えをもっとも自然に受け止めていたのはガトーだろう。

余談ではあるが、修業時代に日本の山中にてキアラと出会い、禅問答対決をしている。

ある意味無敵キャラなあらあらお姉さん・キアラを”やばい、この人やばい。マジ話通じない”と逃げ腰にさせたのはガトーだけ。ガトーも主人公同様、記憶喪失によりその事実を忘れていたのだが。

……このあたりの記憶が取り上げられていたのも、言うまでもなくCCCを起こした何者かの仕業である。

 

Gatou [character] P170-171

Real Name: Monji Gatou.

Gatou is a self-proclaimed scholar of all religions, and claims to have far surpassed all-known theology; he is a super seeker of the way.

He is a simpleton with a dynamic and unyielding personality. Unable to understand him or to be understood by him, he’s like a runaway train. He claims to have reached the height of knowledge in all religions and mythologies both past and present, and according to him, the core philosophies of them all lie within Buddhism.

In this age of chaos and consumerism he earnestly pursued achieving the merciful heart of a Buddha, and the results lay before you; no matter how you look at it he’s a suspicious phony priest.

After undergoing the “severe training required to become a hippie, he had a spiritual encounter in Arizona which inspired him to challenge the peaks of the Himalayas alone. Upon reaching the peak of a mountain, he met “the Primeval Woman.”

However, sadly, despite having a chance encounter with this fundamental divine being, there are apparently no human words by which her existence could be described or defined.

In order to introduce her as the Goddess of a new religion, Gatou made a request to Moon Cell, despite him not being too fond of it. You may be surprised to hear that many years ago this guy was introduced to Moon Cell as a highly talented and promising individual. WHY?

 

There is no use arguing the fact that his completely incomprehensible behavior makes people tend to think of him as a savage that might attack them at any time. Gatou loves fighting more than three meals a day; however he has absolutely no desire to kill anyone.

 

The rationale for why he is paired with the likes of Berserker in the Holy Grail War is simply that Berserker is the materialization of his philosophy “Enemies are to be defeated. Battles are to be won.”

If you were to meet Monji Gatou outside of the context of the Holy Grail War, you would just think of him as an annoying, but understanding and good natured guy.

 

 

Gatou is also a Master that shows up in CCC.

He promptly joins the student council and tries to fix the situation, just as expected of a super seeker of the way. He is quick to jump at every opportunity, and his only worry is about El Shaddai (God Almighty).

Leo makes him the pep rally leader, and in his free time after school you can find him behind the school building practicing cheers with several groups. Regardless of the situation in CCC, Gatou doesn’t lose sight of himself, and does whatever he can to the best of his ability.

He is unable to carry out his mission (…of spreading the religion of the primeval woman), so he is far more relaxed than usual. Ironically, he is unable to act on his strong points despite being in such a situation.

Of course on the surface he considers all Masters to be his enemies, but deep down he finds there to be no reason to kill each other on the far side of the moon. This natural way of thinking is representative of Gatou.

This is digression, but during the days of his training he met Kiara at the top of a mountain in Japan. Kiara, a ditzy older sister type who is more or less invincible, was scared off by Gatou. She ran away saying “What the heck!? This guy is too much. Communication with him is impossible.” Gatou is the only one to have accomplished the feat of scaring her off. Just like the protagonist, in CCC Gatou has also lost his memories, including his memories of this incident with Kiara. …Of course it goes without saying that the loss of memories and the amnesia is due to the meddling of a certain someone in CCC.

 

■カルナ【サーヴァント】

CCCで登場するサーヴァント。

クラスはランサーなのだが、マスターであるジナコが隠す気も無いので真名で呼ばれる事に。

カルナはインドの叙事詩『マハーバーラタ』に登場する、倒される側の英雄。

大英雄アルジュナの弓によって最期を迎えるが、その在り方は単純な悪ではなく、アルジュナと戦う運命にあった強大な敵として描かれている。

絶世の美男子だが、その目つきは鋭く、他人を寄せ付けないものがある。

敵には容赦なく無慈悲であり、その言動も余分なものがなく、人間性を感じさせない。

幽鬼のような白い肌と不吉な黒装束から、これほど悪役に見られやすいサ~ヴァントもそうはいない。

が、実はたいへん思慮深い、人間的に優れた人物。

たいていの事を「なるほど、そちらの事情なのだな」と受け入れ、それもあり、と認める賢人。

位置的には中庸なのだが、善である事を良しとするので性格は善。自己主張が乏しいかわりに、父(太陽神)の威光を守る事を至上としている。

 

カルナが『悪』と勘違いされる最大の要因として、その台詞回しがある。

カルナの言動は本質を突く。

自らを偽った言動。取り繕う態度、信念。

そういったものを見抜いて、率直に相手が言われたくない本質を語ってしまう。結果、たいていの相手に嫌われてしまい、戦闘を余儀なくされる。

激高した相手をなだめられるほど器用ではないカルナは、無言で「仕方あるまい」と槍を手にし、相手が諦めるまで戦いに付き合う事になる。

人それぞれの立ち位置を肯定するカルナにとって、相容れぬ信念も、理解できない美醜も、嫌悪の対象にはならない。

「それもまた良しだ。……いや。正直、少しばかり羨ましい」

と認めてしまう程である。

しかし、無口なカルナはその”本当に伝えるべき感想”を出せないため、結果として”あらゆるものを嫌っている”ように勘違いされてしまう。

これ以上ない忠犬サーヴァントなのだが、敵はおろかマスターにすら嫌われてしまうのは、このロベたさが原因だろう。

 

 

サーヴァントとしてジナコと契約したが、これといった願いはない。彼はただ、自らを呼び出し、必要としたマスターに仕えるのみである。

父が太陽神スーリヤという事もあり、その能力は特Aランク。破格の英霊ギルガメッシュと肩を並べる、強力無比なサーヴァントだ。

もっともマスターであるジナコが三流なので、その力は十全に発揮されない。彼はCCCに登場している時点で、もっとも大きな武具を失っているのだから。

サーヴァント戦においては文句なしの強敵。

前半のラストに立ちはだかるボスという事もあり、圧倒的火力を誇る。

上空からの爆撃・『梵天よ、我を呪えブラフマーストラ・クンダーラ』は核爆弾ではなくなったものの、攻撃の隙間に落ちてくるというデタラメ仕様で、きのこもテストプレイで殺された。マジ殺しにきている。

あと目からビームが出るが、あれは眼力(めじから)を視覚的に表現したものであり、ビームではない。

「武具など無粋。真の英雄は眼で殺す……!」

というのが正式な台詞。ちょいシャクに入らなかったので、前半ボイスはカットされた。とことんメンズナックル系の男である。

 

Karna [servant] P171-172

Karna is a Servant that appears in CCC.

His class is Lancer, but his Master Jinako has no desire to hide his true name, so he is usually called Karna.

Karna is a character from the India epic Mahabharata, and he is a hero belonging to the side that is defeated in battle.

He was put down by an arrow from the great hero Arjuna, however his existence was not necessarily an evil one, he was simply fated to fight Arjuna, and he is depicted as a significant enemy.

 

Despite being a handsome man who looks go unrivaled across the land, he is a man with sharp eyes and has an unapproachable aura.

Merciless to his enemies, his words and actions contain not an iota of superfluity. He doesn’t let you sense any humanity within him.

With skin as white as a ghost, and his ominous pitch-black clothes, there is no other Servant that appears as evil as he does.

But actually, he is an extremely considerate and compassionate character.

In response to most issues he says “I see. So that’s what’s happening.” and wisely accepts that what the person says is indeed possible.

His alignment is neutral, but he agrees with things that are good, so his personality is good. He doesn’t express himself very well, but he considers the protection of his father’s (the Hindu Sun God) authority to be of utmost importance.

Karna is often misunderstood as “evil” because of the way he speaks. Karna’s actions and words are always striking at the essence of things.

There are people who are fakers, or who just say things to maintain appearances, or who lie about their beliefs.

He sees through them all, and candidly jabs at the true nature which those people did not want to reveal. The result is, of course, being hated by most he meets, which unavoidably breeds combat.

Lacking the finesse required to calm the people that his words have enraged, he silently takes up his lance and accompanies them in combat until they give up.

He doesn’t dislike people with incompatible beliefs or whom he can’t understand, because Karna is a proponent of the idea that everyone has their own circumstances. He takes this to the point of, “That’s also okay… actually, to be honest, I’m a little jealous.”

However, the untalkative Karna doesn’t often say what really needs to be said, thus he comes off as hating all things despite that being far from the truth.

Though he is the most obedient and tame Servant of all, due to his choice of words, he is hated not only by his enemies, but even by his Master.

 

 

As a Servant he is bound by his contract with Jinako, however he has no specific wish of his own. He simply wanted to serve a Master who made the effort to summon him in their time of need. His father is the Hindu Sun God, Surya, so his power level is Rank A+.  His is shoulder to shoulder with the exceptional Gilgamesh.

He is an incomparably strong servant.

Since Jinako is a third rate Master, his full potential is not drawn out. This is largely because by the time he makes his appearance in CCC he has already lost his greatest weapon.

 

As far as Servant battles go there is no complaint about this admirable foe.

Towards the end of the first half, he confronts you as a boss, and brandishes overpowering flames. His attack from the sky “Brahmastra Kundala” is a bullshit attack which despite being nerfed from its former nuclear bomb tier power, still wreaks havoc with bombs falling from the sky during the time between attack rounds. Even Kinoko Nasu was killed by this attack when testing the game. Karna is seriously trying to kill you.

Beams also shoot from his eyes, but it’s actually just a visual representation of the power of his gaze. “Weapons are so boorish. Real heroes kill with their eyes…!” is an actual line of his. Unfortunately due to the limited amount of data that can be used for the game, the first half of this voice line just barely failed to meet the cut. A “Men’s Knuckle” type of guy. [TL NOTE: Men’s Knuckle is a Japanese fashion magazine that features a male-gal (gyaru) style. This style involves preppy street clothes and lots of accessories (earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc.). Also known as Onii-kei style.]

■監獄城チェイテ【武器名】

赤ランサーこと、エリザベートが愛用する槍の名称。

ほとんど鈍器のような形状の槍だが、あれは彼女が生前に過ごした城・チェイテ城を武器化したもの。

高い殺傷力を持つが、この魔槍の恐ろしさは他にある。視聴者の皆さまは槍から伸びているコードにお気づきだろうか。

そう。そうなのである。驚くべき事に、この槍にはマイク、アンプ、スモーク、ライト、マネージャー、音響監督、マニュピレイター等、ステージ活動に必要な機能がすべて備わっているのだった……!

更に更に、宝具・鮮血魔嬢を展開する時、チェイテ城はかつての威容を取り戻し、巨大なスピーカーと化してエリザベートの美声を爆布(爆発的なシングルCDの配布、の略)せしめる。

赤セイバーに黄金劇場があるのなら、赤ランサーには監獄城あり。ジェイルロックの精神はSE.RA.PHにおいても受け継がれているのであった。

 

Prison Castle Čachtice (Prison Castle Csejte) [weapon name] P172

This is Red Lancer’s (Elizabeth) beloved lance.

The lance is essentially a blunt weapon, and is actually the castle that she was imprisoned in before her death which has been turned into a weapon. It has great potential as a lethal weapon; however it’s most frightening aspect lies elsewhere.

I’m sure that all of you who have played the game have noticed the cord that extends out from the lance.

Yes, that’s it! Surprisingly this lance is equipped with a microphone, an amp, a smoke machine, lights, a manager, an audio director, an audio manipulator and more! Everything needed for a live performance.  (The staff comprises of workaholic ghosts that were imprisoned in Čachtice.)

But wait, there’s more! When the “Fresh Blood Princess” Noble Phantasm is activated, the castle regains its former glory and transforms into a giant speaker and delivers an explosion of Elizabeth’s beautiful voice across the land! (It also distributes the CD of her explosively awesome singing.)

Just as Red Saber has the Golden Theater, Red Lancer has the Prison Castle. The locked-in-a-jail mentality must be inherited from SE.RA.PH.

 

■技術凍結【事柄】

1970年から技術進歩が滞っているのは、西欧財閥による規制行為とされている。

航空技術、宇宙開発はその最たるもの。積み重ねられた技術の進歩は少しずつあるものの、ブレイクスルーを促す天才は現れない。

また、兵器の進歩も資源が激減したため、2000年から頭打ちとなっている。

戦争のメインが電脳戦になったというのも大きい。

ネットワーク上から都市の運営機能を破壊し、後は原始的なテロ活動に移行する……というのがこの時代の戦争である。皮肉な話だが、コストもかからず環境も破壊しない電脳戦は地球に優しい戦争と言える。

 

Frozen Technology [concept] P172-173

This refers to how technology development has stagnated since 1970 due to restrictions and regulations enforced by the West Europe Plutocracy.

Aerospace industry development is especially restricted. Despite there being a slow trickle of advancement and new technology, no genius talent has appeared with a breakthrough.

Furthermore, the development of weapons has led to an extreme decrease in the availability of resources, which peaked in the year 2000.

Another significant difference [in the alternate world of EXTRA] is that cyber attacks are a staple of war.

The face of modern war is characterized by attackers using the network to destroy the management capabilities of cities and then they proceed to carry out primitive terrorist-style attacks. Ironically, cyber attacks don’t cost much and do no harm to the environment. It’s not too much to say that cyber warfare is environmentally friendly.

 

■疑似霊子【事柄】

ぎじりょうし

かつて、地上には魂の物質化をはかる奇蹟があったという。しかしそれは1970年代の大崩壊で失われた。以後、自らの終わりを受け入れた魔術師たちは禁忌としていた近代科学を取り入れ、その終わりに、”魂”を新しく定義した。

それが魔術理論・疑似霊子と呼ばれる、”意識の出力先”である。

かつて、意識は肉体を通してしか発露できなかった。

しかし魔術師たちは”魂”の位置を測定し、その出力先を新しい天地───電脳空間の分身《アパター》として写し出す事に成功したのだ。

これによって魔術師は電子世界に己をそのまま転移させ、より高度な情報取得活動を可能とした。

もともと魂は高次元のエネルギー体であり、情報媒体としてもたいへん優れていたのである。

この理論の発表に伴い、新世界ではネットワ:ク技術だけが大きく進展した。

軍事産業は現実世界での兵器開発を凍結された代わりに、電脳世界において有効となる兵器開発にいそしむ事となった。

 

Virtual Spiritrons [circumstances] P173

Giji Ryoushi.

In the past there was a miracle discovery that allowed the materialization of the soul. But this technique was lost in the Great Collapse of the 1970s. After that, Magus, who were faced with the end of magic (and thus the end of “Magus”) turned to modern technology and used it to redefine how humans thought of “the soul.”

This is the research that ended up as “Magic Theory of Virtual Spiritrons” which revealed the “output of one’s consciousness.”

Before, consciousness was thought to only manifest through a physical body. But Magus managed to measure the position of “the soul” and redirect its output into a new world; the cyber world. They succeeded in allowing one to create a digital copy of themselves (a bunshin).

After this Magus could transfer themselves into the digital world and carry out higher level information gathering.

The soul is a energy body that resides in a higher dimension, and is actually an unbelievably excellent information medium.

After the announcement and presentation of this theory, in the new world the only technologies that advanced any further than their present state were network related technologies, which developed greatly.

The military industrial complex put a freeze on the development of real world weapons, and turned to developing effective cyber attacks.

 

■疑似霊子コンピューター【事柄】

魔術理論・疑似霊子によって作られた霊子を使い、完成したスーパーコンピューター。

機械の魂を定義し、その霊子を用いて高速演算を可能とする装置。

高次元にある魂を主軸にした、並行世界にある”もの”を動員しての並行並列演算装置。

初期型の完成は1980年。

その演算能力は2030年に完成予定とされていた量子コンピューターと同規模が、これを上回るという。

(量子コンピューターそのものは西欧財閥によって1999年に開発を凍結凍結させられている)

国連主導の探査機……人類側からの月への侵入はこの疑似霊子コンピューターのバックアップがあってはじめて成功した。

また、ムーンセルから直接招かれる場合は別で、当事者が賛同すれば安価なインターフェイスでも月に『落ちる』事が可能である。

……もっとも。その先にあるものは、勝者以外は生還できないデスゲームであるのだが。

 

Virtual Spiritron Computer [circumstances] P173

This is a super computer that was created using spiritrons made based on the Magic Theory of Virtual Spiritrons.

It is a machine that uses spiritrons created from a soul defined as a machine. The use of spiritrons makes high speed computation possible.

The Virtual Spiritron Computer is a parallel computation device that uses the soul (which resides in a higher dimension) as its axis to activate a “something” which lies in a parallel world.

The first version of the Virtual Spiritron Computer was completed in 1980.

Its processing power was so great that it even surpassed the expected processing power of a quantum computer that would finish being developed and built in 2030. (Quantum computer development was frozen by the West Europe Plutocracy in 1999.)

The United Nations led investigation unit first managed to infiltrate the Moon with the assistance of this Virtual Spiritron Computer.

It stands to mention that if Moon Cell directly invites someone, if they accept its invitation they will be able to “fall” to the Moon even using a cheap cyber interface.

…okay then.

Of course accepting Moon Cell’s invitation leads to participation in a death game where only the ultimate victor will be able to return alive.

 

■キャスター(狐(きつね))【サーヴァント】

主人公と契約するメインサーヴァントのひとり。

たやさぬ笑顔とおしゃまな毒舌、ピンとはった狐耳がトレードマークの美女。通称キャス狐《こ》。

魔術師《キャスター》のクラス通り、呪術をメインに使う和風サーヴァント。バリバリ呪うぞっ☆

一人称は『私《ワタクシ》』。ギャルギャルしく砕けたり、思いっきりぶりっ娘の時は『アタシ』。

Fateでは珍しい、これでもか、というくらいマスターにぞっこんなサーヴァント。

目標は主人公の妻になること。夢や目的ではないところが現実的でたいへんコワ可愛い。

普段は脳天気かつ恋話《コイバナ》しかしない、自他共に認めるギャル系サーヴァントだが、根はリアリストで合理的……神とはシステム的なもの……なので、時たま、さらっと真理を射る台詞をこぼす。

赤セイバー曰く、

「キャス狐はハレンチを気取っているだけで、根は聡《さと》い女」とかなんとか。

 

その正体は反英霊であり、神霊クラス……というか、ほとんど神さまである。

力を失っているので人間の英霊レベルであるが、尾を増やし、霊格を最高値まで上げた場合、人間の知覚では全容が測れないほどのモノとなる。

それも当然、彼女の大本(おおもと)は日輪を奉ったモノ。その存在規模は太陽と同義なのだから。

ちなみに尾を一本取り戻すたび、キャス狐の力は九倍になっていく。マックス状態である九尾にもなれば、その数値は九の九乗。

仮にAランクサーヴァントの能力数値を100(宝具のぞく)とすると、一尾キャス狐の能力数値を9ぐらい。一尾ではこの通り、どうあってもAランクには勝てないキャス狐だが、尾を増やしていくと……いや、比較するのも馬鹿らしい。

隠すべき真名をあっさり明かしたり、聖杯戦争に興味がなかったり、そもそも世界を観る視点が違ったり、と他の英霊たちとは一線を画するチートキャラでもある。自然現象の具現───神霊クラスのモノがなぜ霊格を下げて人間の真似事をしているかについては本編のスペシャルマイルームを参照のこと。

 

しかし、そこまでの神クラスなのにゲーム中での性能は最弱。宝具は使えないわ、紙装甲なので油断すればあっさりゲームオーバーという地獄仕様。お馴染みの設定だけなら最強キャラですね、分かります。

キャス狐を選ぶプレイヤーは、それこそ黄泉の比良坂を登るぐらいの覚悟を持ってもらいたい。

反面、パラメーターが強化された後半は雑魚・ボスとわず完勝できるキャラにある。魂の改竄はとにかく魔力を重点的に鍛えるンだ!

好きな物は温泉旅行(温泉ではない)、愛情料理(を調理している時)、自分へのプレゼント。

嫌いな物は犬、半端なイケメン、二人の時間を邪魔するもの。

苦手なものは100%天然の愛されキャラ。ハンパな天然キャラである自分じゃあ勝てないと思い知っているらしい。過去に何があった、キャス狐。

 

 

CCCではSMルックなボンテージ/ゴシックドレスで登場。イヤそうに見えて本人はノリノリ、可愛い服ならなんでもコーイ!という有様。数少ない和風サーヴァントとしての衿持なぞ、スイーツ英霊は持ち合わせてはいないのだった。

CCCでのライバルはパッションリップ。

ただでさえ殴られたら瀕死のキャス狐にとって、一撃の大きいリップはまさに即死モンスター。

加えてヤンデレから卒業したものとして、リップの視野狭窄はイライラするものがあるようだ。

また、キャス狐といえばサーヴァントENDの優遇っぷりも外せない。

まさかの二枚イベント画という暴挙……ッ!

誰特感ハンパない最後の一枚……ッ!

しかも男女差分付き……ッ!

当初の予定では「はい、あーん♥」のイベント画は存在しなかったが、開発スタッフで顔を合わせ、「最後のイベント画がタマモナインで終わるのはいかがなものか」と結論。

予算も時間もとっくに食いつぶした状態でワダアルコさんにご相談したところ、「はい、あーんり」をなんとかしてくれたのであった。

 

Playable Caster (Kitsune) [servant] P173-174

Caster is one of the main Servants who can make a contract with the main protagonist.

She is always smiling and has quite the precocious tongue. She is the trademark beauty of Extra with those lovely fox ears. She is usually called Cas-ko.

Just as the class name Caster implies, she is a magic user. She also features a Japanese-style design. “I’m gonna zap you !”

She refers to herself with (watakushi). She is unreserved like a gal (gyaru), and when trying to be cute for a boy she uses アタシ (atashi).

Unusual for a Fate game, she is so smitten with the protagonist that you might do a double take,

“Damn they even put this in?”

Her goal is to become the protagonist’s wife. She’s a realist and also devilishly cute in all areas unrelated to her goals or dreams.

She has a carefree attitude and always has love on the mind. She is an admittedly gal-esque Servant. However, fundamentally she is a logical realist. For example, she treats god as a system like existence. Sometimes this trips her up and she blurts out lines which don’t suit her usual carefree mentality.

According to Red Saber “She puts up a loose airhead front, but that girl’s true nature is really sharp.”

 

Cas-ko’s true form is an anti-heroic spirit, God-class… she is more or less a god.

Having lost most of her power, she is now on the same level as other human heroic spirits, however when the number of her tails increases and her spirit rank goes up to the highest level, it’s impossible for humans to comprehend her full power.

This is only natural, as the foundation of her being came from an offering to the sun. Thus, the scale of her existence is equivalent to that of the sun.

By the way, for each tail that returns, Cas-ko’s power increases by 9x. This means that in her max power state with all nine tails her power has increased by 99.

 

Supposing that we represent an A rank Servant with a numerical power level of, say, 100 (not including Noble Phantasms), Cas-ko with 1 tail has a power of about 9, and as you can see could never defeat an A rank Servant. But, as the number of tails increases… well it’s silly to even try comparing.

Her true name, which is something that should remain a secret, is quickly revealed from the start of the game. Having no interest in the Holy Grail War, and with a unique perspective of the world, she is clearly different from the other servants. Not to mention she is essentially a cheat character. She is the embodiment of a natural phenomenon: a god-class spirit. Why does she posses such a low spirit rank in game? Why does her behavior mimic that of humans? Please refer to her Special My Room to find out.

 

Despite being such a great god-class spirit, in the game she is the weakest Servant.

With her paper thin armor and inability to use Noble Phantasms it’s an easy game-over if you let your guard down. I understand, I understand, if only the setting had been made so that she was your childhood friend, then she would’ve truly been the best character, right!?

In any case, I would like players who choose Cas-ko to have the resolve to surmount the border of life and death.

On the other hand, after Cas-ko’s stats are upgraded, the second half of the game is a sure-victory cakewalk, regardless if the enemy is a weakling or a boss. The alteration of her soul boosts her magic power like crazy!

She likes trips to hot spring resorts (but not hot spring baths), and love-filled cooking (at least while doing the cooking), and giving presents to herself.

She hates dogs, only somewhat handsome guys, and people who disrupt her time alone with her Master.

She’s not too fond of loveable 100% airhead characters. She seems to have well learned the lesson that her half-baked airhead act never seems to come out ahead of the real deal. Dear Cas-ko, what happened in your past?

 

 

In CCC Cas-ko appears featuring an S&M bondage style + Goth Loli dress fusion design.

Even though she puts up a front pretending to dislike her attire she actually loves it, “As long as it’s cute, anything’s okay!”

The Heroic Spirit of Sweets doesn’t have the same pride that the other few Japanese style Servants do.

In CCC her rival is Passionlip.

Under normal circumstances Cas-ko is on the verge of death after taking a normal punch attack, so Passionlip’s huge one-shot lip attack means that she is an instant death monster as far as Cas-ko is concerned.

Furthermore, it seems that a narrow-minded tendency lingers from Passionlips yandere past, and this can prove to be quite irritating to Cas-ko.

Also, when talking about Cas-ko it’s impossible to skip over the amazing preferential treatment we gave her ending.

Who who imagine that she’d get a two CG ending event!? What is this recklessness?

And that ultra special final CG!!

Not to mention the ending differs depending on whether your character is male or female!

The “Say Aahhh” ending CG wasn’t in the plan from start, but after a developer meeting it was decided that the final event CG would be the Tamamo Nine. At that point we were short on time and budget but after consulting with Wada Arco we were able to make something out of nothing and helped us realize the “Say Aahhh” ending CG.

 

■キャスター(アリス)【サーヴァント】

さんせんめの、サーヴァント。

ワタシはアナタ、アナタはワタシ。

名前も忘れたアナタのために、

アナタの姿をそっくり映す。

ワタシの名前はわらべ歌。

トミーサムの可愛い絵本。

マザーグースのさいしょのカタチ。

ありすの終わりがやってくる。

物語である以上、終わりがくるのはあたりまえ。

ナーサリーライムは実在の英雄ではなく、実在する絵本の総称である。

イギリスで深く愛されたこのジャンルは、多くの子供たちの夢を受け止めていくうちに一つの概念として成立、”子供たちの英雄”としてサーヴァント化した。

(のちにルイスキャロルという有名な作家を生み出す下地になったもの。彼の著作「不思議の国のアリス」は、もともとは彼の姪っ子たちに即興で聞かせたナーサリーライムである)

サーヴァントそのものが固有結界であり、マスターの心を映し、マスターが夢見たカタチの疑似サーヴァントを作り上げる。

このサーヴァントはひとりの悲惨な少女を救ったが、同時に、常に何者でもない、鏡であるこのサーヴァント自身も救われていた。……たとえそれが、砂糖菓子のように脆く、意味のない事だとしても。

また、上記にある散文詩テキストはゲーム本編におけるマトリクス「詳細:1」と同じもの。

ありすとの決戦前、「相手の真名当てイベント」の後に開示されるのだが、ここで言う「最期の望み」はありすの生前の望みではなく、死後、ゴーストとなった後の望みを指している。

 

Caster (Alice) [servant] P174

This is Sansenme’s Servant Caster.

Ahh, but alas the elevator descends.

This is a story, so of course it has an end.

 

The lonely you and the sad me.

Let us grant our final wish.

 

 

Nursery Rhyme is not a true heroic spirit; she is the manifestation of a real picture book.

The picture book genre, which is deeply loved in England, has stimulated the dreams of many a child. Nursery Rhyme is essentially a heroic spirit born from children; by children and for children. (Nursery Rhyme is the book which eventually became the foundation for Lewis Caroll’s famous works. One of his great works, Alice in Wonderland, is actually a nursery rhyme he improvised while entertaining his nieces.)

The Servant Nursery Rhyme is actually a pseudo-Servant dreamt up by her Master. She is a Reality Marble that embodies a reflection of her Master’s feelings.

This servant managed to save her miserable Master, yet at the same time she is not her own person, just a mirror image who was also saving herself. …this fragile balance…is it meaningless?

Also the prose poetry included above is the same as in the game’s Matrix Details:1 section.

Before the final battle with Alice there is the “Let’s guess their true name!” event, and after that the poem is displayed. In the poem, the line “Let us grant our final wish.” is a reference to a desire of Alice’s that is not from when she was alive, but rather from after her death when she became a ghost.

 

■旧校舎【地形】

CCCでの主人公たちのホーム。

月の裏側における唯一の安全地帯として復旧・利用されている。

はるか以前の聖杯戦争で使われていたが、老朽化したために破棄されたフリースペース。

旧校舎は悪性情報の海のただ中に浮かぶ潜水艦のようなもの。

破棄されたとはいえ聖杯戦争の会場だったので、校舎には数十人のサーヴァんとを維持するだけの霊子ソースが残されていた。

保健室の桜はこのパワーソースを校舎を守るバリアとして使用、校舎内を実数空間のルールに保っている。

……余談ではあるが、CCC開発当時、ゲームの舞台は”ノイズに浸食されたEXTRA校舎”だったが、それでは新しさがない、という事でノスタルジックな旧校舎に変更された。

 

Old School Building [location] P175

This is the protagonist’s home base in CCC.

The building is restored and used by the protagonist, and it is the only safe area on the far side of the Moon.

It is a building that was used during a Holy Grail War that took place long ago; it was abandoned after falling into disrepair. The Old School Building is like a submarine floating in the middle of an ocean of malicious information and data.

Regardless of the fact it was abandoned, it was once the site of a Holy Grail War, so it remains a spiritron source capable of supporting the needs of tens of Servants.

The Sakura in the school infirmary uses the school’s spiritron power as a barrier to protect the school and to maintain the fundamental rules and order of a real world environment inside the school.

To digress, during the development of CCC the setting was going to be “the EXTRA school building being eaten away at by glitches” but there was no novelty in this idea, so we changed to the nostalgic Old School Building.

 

■ギルガメッシュ【サーヴァント】

CCCで追加されたメインサーヴァント。

人類最古の英雄で、紀元前、シュメールの都市国家ウルクを治めていた半神半人の王。

性酷薄(せいこくはく)にして無情。人の意見を聞き届けず、己の基準のみを絶対とする暴君。

紅アーチャー同様、コイツも今までさんざん解説しつくしているため、特に語るべき事はない。

基本性能・設定はEXTRA用にチューニングされているが、基本いつも通りのギル。

華美きわまりない黄金の甲冑を誇示し、ありあまる財宝を湯水のように放出する破格の英霊。

一人称は『我』と書いて『オレ』と読む。

性質《アライメント》は混沌。善。

血も涙もない暴君であり、あらゆる財宝・あらゆる悦楽を究め、楽しんだ英雄。

気分屋ではあるが、気分が悪い、という理由で手を下す事は(あまり)ない。

彼が人を殺める時は、相手の魂が醜悪である時か、そのものがギルガメッシュに敵対した時である。

 

善も悪も等しく扱い、断罪する王。

絶対的な基準が『自分』なので、他人の思想、在り方に共感する事はない。

ギルガメッシュにとって生命とは『今すぐ死ぬ』か『いずれ死ぬ』ものでしかない。

ギルガメッシュが『今すぐ死ぬべき命』と認めれば、賢者であろうと抹殺される。

「なにそれ、ルールとか拘りとかなくて、結局その時のギルガメッシュの気分かよ!」とツッコミをいれたいのはもっともだが、王とはそのようなもの。

宇宙の真理と同一したかの如き英断も、

酔っぱらって前後不覚の時の悪政も、

 

彼が行うのなら紛れもない王の裁定となる。

絶対王者とはそういうものだ。

唯我独尊、という点ではイスカンダルと同一視されるが、ギルガメッシュとイスカンダルの最大の違いは臣下を必要としていないこと。

ギルガメッシュは最初から最後まで『己』だけで君臨する王。彼が愛するものは『財宝』『道具』であり、『人』は消え去るものでしかない。

……たとえそれが、どれほど愛するに値するものと、認めた後であろうとも。

 

また、CCCのテーマ的に女性問題は避けられない。

ギルの好みのタイプは「崇高な処女《オトメ》」である。(子ギルの時は「野に咲く花」)

男性に依存しつつも、その内面では男性を利用する女性を嫌う。要は『女らしい』女性を嫌う。

 

 

ムーンセルはサーヴァントとして彼を再構築・顕現させたが、扱いきれずに月の裏側に封印していた。

ギルガメッシュ自身も聖杯戦争に意義を見いだしていなかったので、落とされた先の暗闇(悪性情報)に寝屋を作り、退廃の夢に微睡んでいた。

他のサーヴァントと違い、マスターと契約する気がない。誰の味方でもなく、誰も必要としない唯我独尊なぐうたらタイムを満喫していたが、奈落に落ちてきた愚者(主人公)の戯言がわりとツボだったので目を覚まし、ちょっとちょっかいを出してみた、というのが事の始まり。

無限に近い時間、奈落で微睡んでいたため、心身共になまりきっている。

今回こそ慢心しないと思ったら、そもそもデフォルト状態が慢心だった。←new!

サーヴァント難易度はチート性能とあるが、その宝具解禁までは赤セイバーとどっこいの難易度。

しかし宝具のダメージはマジキチレベルなので、なんつーか、今から後半のゲームバランスが心配です。

ギル様の攻撃→相手は死ぬ、なんて酷い事態になるかもしれない。

こんなAUOだが、味方サーヴァントである以上、いつかは主人公と信頼関係を築き合う事になって、雑談しながらSGを解放する時もあるだろう。

また、EXTRA世界では受肉していないため、その時代の文明性に偏ってはいない。CCCでは神話時代の、ニュートラルなギルガメッシュの素顔を垣間見ることができる。

 

Gilgamesh [servant] P175-176

Gilgamesh is one of the main Servants newly made available in CCC.

He is a demigod who is the most ancient hero in human history. His origins go back to before the common era. He ruled the Sumerian city of Uruk.

Gilgamesh is ruthless and unfeeling. He is a tyrant who considers his own standards and rules to be absolute above all, so he has no ear for the opinion of humans.

Like Red Archer, this guy has also been explained to death in various Type-Moon works, so there isn’t much in specific to talk about here.

His standard powers, abilities, and character setting have been tuned a bit to fit into the EXTRA world, but he is more or less the same Gil as always.

He is an exceptional Heroic Spirit who proudly flaunts his ornate golden armor. He uses his overly abundant treasures and wealth as if he is trying to get rid of them.

He refers to himself with オレ(ore) but writes it as (which is usually pronounced ware, but Gil pronounces it ore).

His alignment is chaotic good.

He is a cold-blooded tyrant who has had a fun life pursuing all the world’s treasures and pleasures to the limit.

He is a temperamental person, but he doesn’t (usually) doll out the pain simply because he is in a bad mood.

When he does end someone’s life, it’s because they have a disgusting evil soul, or because they are trying to oppose him.

 

He is a King who lays down judgment equally to all, regardless if they are good or evil.

His absolute standards all revolved around “himself” so he has no sympathy or consideration for the ideas of others.

As far as Gilgamesh is concerned, life is only ever “something that will die right now” or “something that will eventually die.”

If Gilgamesh decides that you are “a life that should die now” it doesn’t matter if you are a wise old man, you’ll be slaughtered.

“What the heck!? So basically you’re just saying that he pays no heed to his rules or conditions, and it all depends on how Gilgamesh is feeling that day!” It’s unavoidable that you want to point this out, but that’s just how being a King is.

Whether his judgment aligns perfectly with the truth of the universe, or he abuses his power in a drunken stupor, whatever he does, his actions as King are indisputable.

This is what it means to be an absolute ruler.

Some may see Gilgamesh’s very egocentric nature as similar to Iskandar’s, but there is one respect in which the two differ greatly. Gilgamesh has no need for vassals.

Gilgamesh is a king who reigns alone from start to finish. He loves “treasure” and “tools.” While “people” are simply things that will eventually disappear.

...No matter how worthy of love that a person may be. No matter if he recognizes they are worthy of love.

 

Also, as far as Gilgamesh’s relationship with CCC’s theme is concerned, girl problems can’t be avoided (he can’t easily find a girl he likes). Gil’s type of woman is a “noble maiden” (When he appears as Young Gil her prefers “wildflower” type girls).

He hates women who, despite continually depending on men, try to manipulate and use men. In other words he dislikes “girlish” women.

 

 

Moon Cell reincarnated Gilgamesh after reconstructing him, but Gilgamesh was still unable to be controlled, so Moon Cell sealed him away by sending him to the far side of the Moon.

Gilgamesh didn’t see there being any meaning in the Holy Grail War, so somewhere in the darkness of the far side of the Moon (the sea of corrupted information) he made himself a room to sleep and dozed away to his degenerate dreams.

Unlike the other Servants, Gilgamesh has no intention of making a contract with a Master. Ally of no one. Needed by no one. Perfectly happy idling his time away. However, the fool (the protagonist) who fell down into the hell that is the far side of the Moon spouted some falsehoods that were quite amusing to Gil, so he woke from his slumber to interfere a bit. That’s what started their relationship.

Since Gil had been dozing off in hell for a nearly infinite amount of time, both his body and mind were rusty.

Some players might think that Gil is finally making an appearance without his conceited attitude, but that attitude is part of his default character (I’m sure you didn’t know...).

The difficult of clearing the game with each Servant depends on their “cheatability.”  As far as Gil is concerned, until his cheat-tier Noble Phantasm is unlocked, the game is about the same difficulty as when using Red Saber.

His Noble Phantasm causes an insane amount of damage, to the point where I’m rather worried about the balance of the latter half of the game.

Battles might end up being pretty bad if they are just Gil attacks = enemy insta-dead.

 

So that’s pretty much the story about our AUO (TLN: sounds like eiyuuou 英雄王 = King of Heroes). Since he is an allied Servant, his relationship with the protagonist eventually reaches the point of mutual trust, and after engaging in some casual chit-chat his Secret Garden will become available to you.

Also, since Gil has not been incarnated into the alternate history world of EXTRA, the modern civilization of EXTRA has not influenced him in the slightest. In CCC he appears as a more neutral incarnation based on the Age of Epics version of Gilgamesh, and one might occasionally see his more casual, personal side.

 

■キングプロテア【アルターエゴ】

実現しなかったサクラファイブの一人。

渇愛のアルターエゴ。

サクラファイブの中でも最下層の位置づけでありながら、SE.RA.PH最強の存在でもある。

イデススキル『ヒュージスケール』を持つでか桜。

長時間迷宮にいると現れるお邪魔キャラで、通路を壊しながら進む永久パターン防止キャラ。転んでダンジョン破壊とかバカ可愛い。

アリーナの通路の外、海を泳いでやってくる白鯨のようなもの。まんまワンダと巨像の巨像、ダライアスの巨大戦艦である。物語を盛り上げるのではなく、ゲームデザインを盛り上げるキャラとして用意された。

例えばアリーナ内において、

『奥にアイテムフォルダが見えるけど、巨大な手が邪魔して通れない』、

『箱のような透明の容器にみっちりとサクラがつまっていて通れない』、

等々、色々な『肉壁』ギミックを用意し、いつかこのエゴを倒せたらアイテムフォルダを入手できる…といった用途が考えられていた。

月の裏側では攻性プログラムたちにさえ虐待される奴隷階級で、「量産型サクラエネミーより下に、桜の主人格がある」といういじめられ精神の具現だった。桜の心理世界ですら、いじめられる桜がいるという酷い現実……!

実はギリギリまで採用が検討されていたボス。

ストーリーに絡まないため、隠しボスの一体として予定に入っていたのだが、やむなく没になった。

以下はそんな、ゲーム中に使用予定だったマトリクスの断片である。

 

・廃棄物:

キングプロテアはBBから作られたアルターエゴではあるが、あまりにも危険なため月の表でもなく裏でもない”何もない”宇宙に捨てられた廃棄物である。

何人であれ、このエゴには触れてはいけない。

キングプロテアは愛を求める欲望の具現。

周囲にある何もかもをも呑みこんで成長し、さらに肥大化した空腹を満たすため食事を繰り返し、また成長する。その悪循環は人間のエゴそのものである。パッションリップとメルトリリスの妹にあたるが、姉妹仲が良いのかどうかは不明。

 

・堕天の檻:

クライン・キューブ。

底なしの赤子。あるいは穴。盲目的に愛を求めるキングフロテアを閉じこめるために作られた檻。月の中枢・熾天の檻と同じく、フォトニック結晶によって作られた物理的な”容れ物”でもある。
